Dick Kinzel's Revenge! (Shot Glass size Free Water Cups)...

I thought these cups were pretty ridiculous. We got nine of them for three people. There is no way they are 8 ounces. They are more suitable for ketchup cups.

The water costs them essentially nothing. The cup probably costs them at least something. I find it hard to believe that it's cheaper to give three cups of water this way than it is to give one decent sized cup. Not only that, but it takes the poor dude dishing them out at least twice as long per cup and probably 4-6 timees as long per customer since he was nice and tried to put just one or two ice cubes in so we could actually have a full sip of water.

^ - no, they don't. They can't charge for tap water, that doesn't mean they have to provide it at the food stands.

That's precisely what I was implying, John - that CP does, in fact, have to provide free water. They just don't have to provide to pansies who want it in a cup. :)

There are a lot of good reasons to be upset with Kinzel. This ain't one of them. If you guys are doing shots of that size then you should be calling AA.

Have they ripped all of the water fountains out of the park?

One of the sports venues we go to used to give free water but now if you ask for water they put a bottle of Ice Mountain on the counter and tell you it will be $3.00.

And yet those venues have free water fountains as well. If that water isn't good enough for you, and you find $3 to be acceptable payment for water that is good enough for you, then what's the problem?

I guess I will be asking for more cups if they are smaller....

We could really do without the douchebaggery toward the guy who started the thread. Honestly, who plays the role of apologist for the park being this cheap?

I've found that some of the water fountains in the park have very low water flow/ stream and you are unable to get a drink or fill your water bottle. and some fountains must be unplug, because the water is luke warm and not cold ( this is great on a hot and sunny day) I just wonder if this is done intentionally by CP to increase their softdrink sales. You would think with the number of maintenance people that they have during the season they would be able maintain the water fountains in the park.

I tend to agree with Chief. We got a cup of the free water on Sunday. I didn't measure it, but it seemed adequate to me. Then again, I don't view the cup of free water as a replacement to buying drinks for my meal or a replacement for water fountains.

This is hardly unique to Cedar Point. A lot of places use smaller cups for free water.

Berardi - it could also be that the fountain has been in the sun for several hours with hardly anyone using it. I'm sure if you let the water run for a 10-20 seconds it would get cold.

Is douchebaggery a word? I'm going to start using that from now on.

No douchbaggery intended on my part. If anything I think the title of the thread had some douchebag-type qualities. What, exactly, is Dick getting revenge for?

I mean, really...I don't think I've ever been accused of being an apologist for the park. I've been extremely critical of management, particuarly over the past 5-6 years.

But, we are talking about a "free" glass of water, aren't we? I have a water fountain in my building. I don't recall a time...ever...when someone would have asked me for a cup, nor would I have had one to give them anyway.

I tend to agree that the fountains in the park are hit or miss at best. Try to find a fountain that has cold water.

When I go to parks, I just bring the koolaid singles and fill a water bottle up thrue out the day. Much cheaper than buying pop, and better tasting then most water from a fountain.

I mean come on.....$3.75 for a 20oz drink? $25 for a pizza?$20 for a sub combo?

Who the hell is going to be able to afford to go to an amusement park here soon if they keep this crap up?

It' s past the point for me, I always just leave the park now to get food. And I never buy a drink in a park. And this is the parks fault for serving crappy food and drinks at outragious prices. I understand it is an amusement park and things are going to coast more, but this is just ridiculas.

I would rather them just add a few bucks to the admision price, and have free pop all day like holiday world does.

Check out some of these prices on the menues at another cedarfair park... http://coasterbuzz.com/Forums/Thread/56174.aspx

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The one behind the cheese-on-a-stick joint across from the exit to Disaster Transport. Widely known as the best in the park because it's not used that frequently. The refrigerated water is rarely depleted.

I have two more good water fountains, the one in front of Blue Streak's station and the one on the side of Town Hall. Both always have cold water in my experience (used the Blue Streak one multiple times per day in 07, so I would know :) ). Coincidentally, all three of these fountains are the "older" vertical box style instead of the newer wall mount ones, which usually have slightly warmer water, in my experience.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Or why not just refill said cups at any one of said water fountains?

I think I'll stick to the water fountains.

I went to see DMB at Blossom on Wednesday - I was SHOCKED at the prices of food/beverages. I thought it was bad at CP - but $5 for a bottle of water? $10 for a beer? There were no free cups there, but the water fountains that were placed throughout seemed to do their job.

I've come to accept that food prices suck, but I won't pay them. (though I did buy a 24 Oz. beer at Blossom..)

At least you can still bring in your own alcohol to orchestra concerts there.

I think the issue is that people saw the bigger cups of water as an added value to their overall Cedar Point experience. I know for me it was convenient and I appreciated it because I would drink the whole thing. My sister and other people on the other hand thought it was too large, amd they would maybe only drink half. Only Cedar Point knows why they made the switch but I think the sensible solution would be to offer the bigger cups to those who ask. I firmly believe that its the little things that leave a lasting impression and can send powerful signals to your customers/guests. Cedar Point seems to have lost that train of thought over the years, or at least that is the signal that they are sending to some people.

Wait, beers didn't get smaller did they? People, its as easy as this. Bring in an empty water bottle and refill it all day.
