I don't think you will ever see a coaster get that close to Kinzel's house.

Im in with MrScott. A wooden would be neat...though some of the parking lot would have to be sacrificed. I came up with a very basic idea for the layout that would have the coaster ride the beach, though I dont know how well that would work in real life. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v175/Dragster420/2010cpc.jpg

Are you sure it was MrScott who said it? ;)
That concept looks good to me. Having a coaster along the beach like that would be pretty sweet. I like how you designed it, but I think there should be some alterations to the surrounding buildings because it seems a bit hidden behind stuff.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I think that the design could be even better without DT in the way.
Top Coasters:
1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Sheikra 5. Magnum
ride on ride warriors, ride on
So would that count as a parking lot coaster? Or, just a beach coaster? LOL!!
Cool layout though. I just wouldn't like it going behind all the "back of house" stuff.
Well If he added a little grass by the coasters first lift hill and the other hills, You could consider it a beach coaster. Hopefully Adam reads this and gets my idea :) *** Edited 2/15/2007 3:30:40 PM UTC by Shawn Meyer***
I say run it on the roof of the games area and out to the beach. That would be cooler. Then it technically would be IN the park. :)
Y'all do realize that there's no way that the coaster, as drawn in there, could possibly work. Check out the scale. Some of the bunny hops are about the size of the cars parked in the lot. Ouch.
And building on sand?...right next to the water? Can't see how anything bad could result from that. Cause, you know, Wicked Twister has been such a structural success story. And why did they enclose DT, again? Oh, sand. Huh.
That coaster was not drawn to scale. They could work something to fit in there. You can build in sand, you just need to make sure your supports are build right. And Wicked Twister's problem was the structure at the top of the ride, not deep within the sand. They added the extra support needed and now it is fine. As for DT, the word around is that sand was a problem because it got into the "bed" of the track, if you will. Sand wouldn't get trapped on regular wood or steel track the way it may have within DT's track.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Guys, based on what has happened in the past few weeks with all the coaster removals and relocations, its clear as to what will go in DD's place...

^lol Hope not!:)
nievsbob, do you really think I meant to draw that to scale? Come on, I think I'd know.:P
And if anyone ever wanted to know what the space would look like without DT, here ya go.

Now imagine the possibilities.:)

You're making some great comments on your second day on the forum. ;)
I think the main gate should get a nice renovation. The season pass/group center, resort reservations, park services, locker rentals, the bathroom, Demon Drop's current footprint, the ticket sale booths, and the turnstiles can all be given a nice new face lift.

I could see that.

nievsbob - you do realize that the few structural problems with WT have had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that its foundation is on sand.

Gomez, you got the point right about the frony end of the park needing a facelift. If the could sacrifice the picnic shelter on the right hand side, that would free up some space.
Has anybody thought of an idea about running the coaster down far enough and looping it trough Raptor and possibly mirroring Blue Streak for a bunny hill or two?

The picnic shelter on the right are lockers. I'm not really looking for space, but rather a nice fresh new look to the main gate.

What about a fly-through in Kinzel's house? He loves new coaster so much, why not just do that?

Not so much disagreeing with your idea so much as your execution, man. A nice wooden coaster could work there, but building on the beach is a bad idea, unless maybe you put a lot of concrete down beneath it. Building on sand is certainly possible, don't get me wrong, but it would drive the expense of the project up needlessly in order to get a secure base (the point I was trying to make, perhaps not as clearly as I could have). Building right on the water probably isn't the best idea, either. I know Erie isn't as affected by tides as oceans are, but long run shifts in the water level do occur, plus freezing and thawing. Besides, doesn't eveyone already complain about how much of the beach view DT obstructs?
Sand is sand...it may not affect a wooden coaster as much as it affected AR/DT but it will cause problems. WT doesn't have quite as many moving parts as a lift hill-driven ride, so it's not as vulnerable to the effects of sand, but I imagine it still causes problems. Sand working its way into gears can cause a world of hurt real quick. Speaking of 'sand' and 'hurt', anyone ridden WT on a windy day? Yeouch.
It's an interesting concept, looks a bit like a GCI except out and back, but I stand by my statement that the scale is all off. A wooden coaster could go there sure, but it wouldn't be able to follow the blueprint (paintprint? ;-) you laid out at all. DT isn't going anywhere, either.
Coaster at the front would be awesome. How bout that one kind of ride thats like a fly swatter? I think theres one somewhere called "SWAT".

I would love to see the entire front of the park (gates, picnic shelters, that whole area) remodeled. I think that a wooden coaster on the beach is a very possible idea and well within a budget of $10-16 million, and I also think it would do great in terms of how it looks. Anything beats the boxy warehouse structure that is there right now, and if done right, could enhance the look of the area. As for sand getting in the gears, that is why you enclose the main gears in a small gear-house and cover any part of the chain between the main gears and the lift hill; kind of like how Blue Streak and Mean Streak's lift gear is.
As for the front gate area, I think it would be great if they would make that entire front section have a classic feel to it. The current buildings along that stretch of midway until the Coliseum aren't exactly modern-looking anyway. The front gates and locker rental/restrooms are definitely in need of a face lift.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
