CP 2002 very good guess....

Whoa time out buddy!!
Superman: The Escape
Ultra Twister
Oblivion
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Batman The Ride
King Cobra
Revolution
Medusa
Iron Wolf
These are all the prototypes I can think of off the top of my head. With the exception of Medusa all of these rides have lost their novelty. You might say that Millennium Force was a prototype because of the lift, but I mean there really isn't anything new there: sit down trains, lift hill, drops, hills, overbanks. It's pretty standard (except for the 300 foot thing :)).

Think about it....Cedar Point REALLY liked the Rockin Rollercoaster at Walt Disney World..Cedar Point could easily blow away any park with a launch coaster(outdoor). They would put it on the Oceana Midway, because technically launch coasters don't need a whole lot of space. 0-80 MPH in 4.5 seconds, the fastest anywhere...now that would be cool.

I'm torn on this one. I'd like to see a CCI or GCI put in, but TA2K makes too much sense. As for it's capacity, we'll see in a month.

NOOOO!!!! I WANT A CCI!!!!!!

Please CP, just hold off on the TA2K for one year, unless...
unless they get both!!
(Dr. Evil hand gesture and grin)
I love this, I remember the anguish and anxiety of people the off-season before they announce MF. Now here it is all over again! :)
I don't think Millennium Force was a prototype. A prototype is any new design that hasn't been used. The only thing special MF is the lift system. No new seats or trains. Basically its just like Superman at SF Darien Lake.

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point.
what about the statement by one of the top guys of CP. I believe he said "remember what followed up magnum" when he was asked about the next coaster. That would make me think that CP will be getting a nice new wooden coaster , since Mean Streak is the coaster that followed up Magnum.
Yeah, I think we can safely say that MF was not a prototype. CP just doesn't get into prototypes, they wait to see how they do, and if it's a big hit they build them bigger and much better. That seems to be the way it's gone with a lot of things they have built.

Actually, Diaster Transport followed Magnum. Maybe they're going to make the Mine Ride an indoor coaster :)

Although it would be a Six Flagish maneuver, lets say that next year CP gets a Ghostrider and a 400 + ft tall TA2K.

Both may cost less then that Blue and Silver Shiny ride. The TA2K will be a major draw while the CCI will be a nice addition that will make people happy happy, so from a investment standpoint it could be a better deal than MF. Just a CCI would be a puny investment compared to the last couple of coasters anyway and I feel wouldn't draw much from the GP.

Then CP could get all of their precious records back minus the recount, Tallest Coasters, Most Coasters, Ect. The TA2K would do most of that work while the CCI gives CP some dignity instead of adding a low capacity shuttle or another kiddie coaster.

I'm not saying I like the idea and it goes against all of CP's history . I just want a CCI :)
Another indoor ride???!?? ewwwww....

:)
I guess if they do they can transport another disaster to Cedar Point....
We've lost control over the issue.....
I'm not really sure if Cedar Point will get two coasters. I think you have to take into consideration the fact that most of the GP that CP draws from does not care if SFMM has one more coaster. Also, is there that much of an advantage from an attendance point of view between one new coaster and two? What I mean is: how many more people are going to make the trip if they get two coasters vs. if they only get one coaster?

From my point of view, I'd like to see CP build one quality coaster instead of a couple cheesy ones. Quality rides are the ones that will keep people coming back year after year and also this strategy helps to prevent them from wasting space by slapping cheesy coasters up here and there.

Having said that, I've never had the pleasure of riding a CCI, but I can tell you that something like Lighning Racer at Hershey (GCI w/ Millennium Flyer trains) would be a winner at CP. Maybe CP could get GCI to make the lapbars on the Millennium Flyer trains more like the lapbars on the Force. I think the TA2K would be cool too and to be honest, it may be a better investment for them.

Well if they only get one coaster and that one is a Thrust Air then I may not even be inspired to go. There are plenty of other places in this world I haven't seen. If they got a woody, I wouldn't even have to think twice about going.
Anybody else as disinterested in the Thrust Air as I am?

Oh well, my interests never mirror the general public anyway :)
I think that getting both a TA2K and a CCI wouldn't be impractical. Joe E. made some great points for that argument. Plus, MDOmnis commented on one quality coaster rather than two - the fact is the price tag for these two would be reasonable, so they could invest a sufficient amount of money to come out with two quality coasters.

I for one am very excited about TA2K. The problem I see with it is the capacity, and I don't think that Cedar Point can add a ride with a capacity of only 960 people per hour. I guess if they add two than that will be 1920 per hour. The Millennium Force capacity is on the tip of my tongue (some help Rideman?) but I know that Raptor is somewhere around 1800. I do see a woodie in the near future if not 2002 than 2004.

A TA2K and CCI would be great. But either one of them would be fine by me.
