Coastermania 2016 info release

This is my first Coastermania, and I'm very excited. Booked Sandcastle for the same reason. I feel like it is a very good price for what you get. Plus it's always nice to stay right on the peninsula.

Last year was our first Coaster Mania and the weather was beautiful.

For those that have done this a lot of years, what happens in the event that it is extremely windy, or pours rain all day? Do they do an alternate day if most / all of the coasters can't operate all day or is it just hope for the best? I am a little worried about investing in tickets and hotel and literally spending the day in the gift shops to stay dry.

Been going since 09. Yet to have a bad weather day that ruins everything. Only a couple of them it gets windy enough to close dragster for ERT, but they opened Millennium in it's place during those times.

Hopefully continues to be good weather!

I think it was the Coaster Campout; they ran Millennium in the morning during a down pour.

This will be my 22nd consecutive Coastermania and so far the weather has always, luckily, been good. Sometimes the weather is unusually cool or hot. Sometimes scheduled ERT rides are mechanically down so a substitute ride is put into ERT. Because of the free breakfast(donuts/pastry/drink) and free lunch and long hours, the day is worth it.

Does CP still do early entry for resorts guests & Platinum Pass holders on the morning of CoasterMania? Thinking we may sneak over to MF or Maverick for early entry instead of Blue Streak ERT (pretty sure I'm not gonna fit on WT)...

I have a group of 3 going so far, 1 of which hasn't ever been to Cedar Point. This will be my first Coastermania. We're all pretty stoked about it. Especially all of that ERT. I've only experienced ERT on dragster, that was once last year. Should be an awesome experience, especially for our first timer.

Not sure about them allowing early entry for non-coastermania folks that day, ask Tony on twitter or call the park to verify.

ERT for resort guests and Platinum passholders will be the same on that day and our ERT simply "rolls" into normal ERT.

^A first timer at Cedar Point and it will be for CoasterMania? That day will be very memorable for him / her!

This will be our 4th Mania, and we always have a blast. There are always a few hiccups such as long registration lines, way too many people allowed, and the last few years TTD was down for night ERT, but those are minor things, and will be ironed out hopefully. Also looking forward to the cruise, when they did it two years ago, we weren't fortunate enough to get a ticket for it, so this alone is worth the $30.

To those whom will be attending their first Mania this year, be prepared for a long day of coaster madness and thrills, it is a blast!

The first timer is a friend who I've tried talking into going with to CP for 3 or 4 years. I couldn't think of a more memorable way to experience the park for the first time.

Looks like they took away one of the nights for the special rate for Sandcastle Suites. :( I tried calling the reservation help line but they didn't really help much with answering my question. They still have rooms available at regular rate for the night of the 3rd. This really puts a damper on my plans. I would've booked it sooner but I didn't have the money to make the deposit.

So Breakers Express is completely sold out the 3rd, and Sandcastle Suites is sold out at the MANIA promo price... Wow.

I've got my tickets, booked at Sandcastle Suites 6/2-6/4 (with MANIA pricing), and bringing a first-time CP visitor with me to my first CoasterMania... Is it June yet?!?

I've got my tickets, but I'm just curious- has Coastermania sold out yet?

Not that I know of.

Not sold out. Finally decided to buy a ticket just a bit ago. Haven't been to Coastermania for a few years because of work conflicts but I do make it to CP a couple times a year.. Love that attendance will be a little more limited now.

I'm guessing since just the main entrance is open for the event those of us staying at Hotel Breakers have to drive around to the parking area. No big deal...Just have to remember the car is there and not in the hotel lot.

You dont have to drive around. You can take the shuttle. We are staying at Lighthouse Point and that's what we will do.

I just made my reservation at Sandcastle. I had better luck calling the reservation hotline this time. They were able to give me Thursday night at the Coastermania rate and Friday night at the season pass rate. And they were able to make it so that I only had to pay the first night as a deposit. With the pass deal, it costs $184 for that night. Most hotels in town cost $200+ that day, so it's still a better deal than staying off-point, plus you get the added convenience of being on-site. I'm more than happy with that.

I have been going to CoasterMania for many years. However, each year it has been less and less enjoyable as the event crowds grew larger and the entitlement felt by the complainers grew and grew. This was the first year that I was going to skip the event............until the change was announced.

Go figure, now that it sounds like it'll be good once again, I can't go. I already made plans for flying down to Orlando that Saturday morning for a week of Disney and Universal.

It sure sounds like they are putting the ERT back into CoasterMania. If all goes well there is always next year for me. The only thing I worry about is if HoliWood Nites at Holiday World is on the same weekend as CoasterMania next year......I'll have a tough choice to make. Last I recall that event was getting rather heavily attended, as well.

As for where to stay for CoasterMania I would always stay at the South Shore Inn just east of Castaway Bay. That was until I meat my wife who has relatives that live close to the park!

To all you are going enjoy and I am looking forward to the trip reports for this new modified version of CoasterMania.

I'm kinda surprised that WCO sold out (800) in a week and CoasterMania! tickets (1200) are still available a week after they went on sale. Based on the hotels being snatched up I though this would sell out quick. Could it be people are balking at this being a paid event now? "I'm not paying $30 for CoasterMania! It's always been FREE!" It also makes me want to go to WCO even more. Must be an awesome event to sell out 800 tickets to a tour of a closed park in February.
