The weather doesn't look THAT bad for CoasterMania! The storms are expected to pound today and tomorrow, then die out.

The rumor about B&M being involved in some big announcement during CoasterMania! is running around the web quite a bit now...here's to hoping we at least get a big hint during CoasterMania (whether it involves B&M or not).

A completely unsubstantiated rumor making the rounds? I wonder how THAT happened?

Ahhh, I see...

Well, when there is no announcement, then everyone will have the next thing to complain about. If Ron Toomer was still designing coasters when he was at CoasterMania, everyone probably would have said there was going to be an announcement then too. I'm not saying it can't happen. But, I think it's a lot more likely that, "Sometimes a guest speaker is just a guest speaker."

NAH!! That's just nonsense. Why would we "just" have a guest speaker? It's not like there's 2 coasters in the park they built that had big impacts on the coaster industry of which one is still highly rated. Even IF there were, it's not like the point of him being there would be to answer questions regarding these coasters and his past experiences with the park. ;)

I still wonder, though...

I don't think I got it on the video (haven't watched it in a while, although you can watch it on-line if you like...) but I remember that when Ron Toomer gave the keynote address at CoasterMania '99, the question was asked about building a 300 foot coaster at Cedar Point. Toomer flatly stated that there simply wasn't room to build a 300 foot coaster at Cedar Point.

I still wonder if, at that moment, he already knew that not only was it possible to build a 300 foot coaster at Cedar Point, but that it would be opening the very next season. He was mostly retired at that point, but I have to think that Arrow probably bid on the job that later became Millennium Force.

I didn't realize he was there 10 years ago too. I was talking about last years CoasterMania. :)

If you weren't around PointBuzz last year, or if you want to hear it again, here's the 2009 Ron Toomer keynote:

But Walt, that's only audio. There's video out there, too. :)
