Cedar Point has closed for the winter, Demon Drop is packing up and moving to Cali, and the feud in frontier town is gonna take off into new heights. Welcome to the Off season of 09-10'!
To kick off this non-season lets discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly. How has this season of Cedar Point been? Better or Worse than the last?
For me, Having a Platinum pass for the first time made my Cedar Point experience soar. I had gone 8+ times with my last yesterday and wish i could have gone more. Thanks to the pass I had numerous times to ride and finally got my Rollback on Dragster. Also I experienced my first CoasterMania which was a blast. For me this season was amazing.
I am anticipating to see what upgrades CP does besides a new attraction.
Redesigning areas, more themeing, hotel upgrades, restaurant choices, and so on.
The things we usually complain about ya know.......
Personally, I'm looking forward more to an augmented or expanded Starlite Experience than I am to StR.

Congratulations to the few friends I have remaining at the park who have completed yet another season. I don't know how you guys keep doing it...but good on ya!

This was the first year I was really amped about Cedar Point. I had been to Cedar Point maybe 6 times in total before this year, but this year I managed to go 3 times. I'm really thinking about getting a platinum pass for next year, mostly because of the 1 hour early entry.
I had a blast this year, nothing short of a blast at Cedar Point!
This is probably my favorite season so far. I really liked starlight experience. Cedar Point also did a really good job updating some areas. The new fountain is great. Blue Streak is really amazing now. I think Mean Streak was good but the green train is hell.
Hopefully they make improvements to:
-Oceana Part of the park: It is hideous. I hope when Chaos is sold, Troika can get an Ocean theme if it moves to Chaos spot. That part of the park really needs something like a water show or something.
-Starlight Experience: I hope they add on to the attraction. I really don't know where they would add on though.
-Ride Upgrades: I love the retractable seat belts on Blue and Mean Streak. The only thing is they are slightly dysfunctional. If they improved them it would amazing. I really think it could help capacity on Magnum, Gemini, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Calypso, Wave Swinger, and Super Himalaya.

I hope the Live E budget is enhanced or (restored?) What they did at the Garter this year was an abomination to the lord!!!
I cant believe the season is over.
In terms of this coming season, with Shoot the Rapids, I expect that there will be an emphasis on entertainment. Probably a new ice show. I never saw the new show at the Garter this year. But based on what I've heard, I hope it gets replaced. In my dreams I hope Hot Summer Lights is changed. Too much firewater. I also agree with the comment above about a water show of some kind. I don't know where it would be put though.
Millenium Force needs a paint job; BAD. I drove past it on saturday and you can see some rust spots on it. It just doesnt look good. Also, it's going to be weird not seeing Demon Drop at the front of the park. But I'm sure there are plans for that space and Demon Drop will be a good addition to Knotts Berry Farm.
As I think about it, there are some questions I have about 2010.
- What's going to happen with Disaster Transport? Demon Drop is being taken out this off season. But there were reports that the rides old lighting had been turned on for a few days. What does it all mean?
- Is Starlight going to be expanded? I loved Starlight and I think a lot of people like it. It will be intresting to see what happens.
- Will Chaos be operating on opening day? I don't think so.
There's some stuff to think about.
We've already developed a low cost alternative to firewater that requires only a fire-in-a-barrel, a phone-book and a guy with a stick.
Look for it next year.

It seems like they are really trying to get chaos off of their hands. It is only 120'000 USD. Pretty Cheap.

Well I've been waiting to show off these 2 pix (I took them in September), because I really like them. I feel they apply now... sunset = goodbye 2009

By the way, these are from my phone, so go easy!
I had the pleasure of returning to work at Cedar Point for the 2009 season, although my stay was cut short due to relocating to Wisconsin for a position within my field of study.
Having not worked the 2007 and 2008 seasons, it was interesting for me to see some of the changes in the park. Some of the changes over the past couple of years, such as the addition of the Maverick, really enhanced the park from my point of view. Other changes, such as the addition of Subways in the employee commons rec center and in the arcade by Soak City, will take a bit of getting used to as I personally preferred CP's own food services over the chains I could find anywhere.
Working at Midway Market was a good experience, as I got to meet guests from all over the country and world. It was nice to get a feel for working inside the park, as in past seasons I have always worked in Soak City. Of course it was refreshing to see Louie's again, as well as several of my former coworkers I have gotten to know over the years. It was difficult to leave early, but the month I spent at CP was definitely worth it.
As for upcoming changes, I am eager to ride Shoot the Rapids as CP needs a good family water ride to replace White Water Landing. I am disappointed the Demon Drop will be heading west, as it added to the skyline and I do have a good memory of riding it with a friend back in 2006.
I am hoping to see some additions and aesthetic changes to Soak City, since it has been several years since its last addition of Splash Zone. It could use some new music and designing. Then again, I did like hearing "Up on the Roof" by the Drifters on a warm summer afternoon at the City.

Hot Summer Lights, is good, I actually enjoyed the laser show better.
Not able to make it to park this year, live in FL, in college, it is a stretch to have $$$ to get there.
Starlight looked really cool, from Jeff and Walt's cameras at least.
StR sounds like a great addition also, i enjoy water rides. Miss WWL, so hopefully this can do some justice.
I had an awesome 2009 season! I was the first ride of the year for the public for 2008 and 2009! I was there the last day to ride Demon Drop! I am going to miss that ride very much! Plus I was one of the last rides of Maverick for the season! The fog on the way out yesterday walking through Frontier town was cool plus the lazers! I got my Ride Warrior sweatshirt ! I am sad the season is over and now we wait to see what 2010 brings to the Point!!!
Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs
Starlight Experience was pretty amazing. What did they do for Halloweekends with that? Did they remove all of the lights, or leave just the Halloween ones up?
The Halloween section was my favorite. I would have liked to see the entire trail lit up like that.
I cannot believe this season is over with. I am sad I only made one trip this year, but it was a good one. It was 2 days too, so I guess that counts as 2 trips. ;)

those seatbelts would not work on Maggie at all....
people have so many issues pulling them to fast that they lock... we would set up everytime

It seems like clock work every year that the 1st few weekends after the parks close are beautiful, makes me miss CP so much more. On the bright side though, at least we're having nice weather :) (and last Friday was crazy!)
Starlight was a great addition to the park, it will be interesting to see if they make any changes/additions for 2010. It's nice to read all of the positive reviews and thoughts on it.
What did they do for Halloweekends with that?
Where the lights thats snowed were, they were changed to red for Halloweekends, that was cool. They also left the green laser lights that were near the Easter entrance, and I think they added red lasers near the Christmas entrance as well, I can't remember now. They used other lights through-out the trail as well, I just don't know the specifics.
