Chick-fil-A Ban

I see that once again, for lack of any discussion skills, we have resorted to the kindergarten name-calling strategies employed earlier.

And now you're telling me how to raise my kids? Wow. I don't think so.

I'm sorry, please point out where I told you how your kids should be raised. I simply told you that you can tell them whatever you want. Just don't use them as an excuse as to why other people should not marry.

^ Nice; I was just about to search for that quote when I saw where this was headed. Louis has a way with words.

Also, I remember a while back on here, someone was terrified that their children had to listen to an effeminate TTD operator. Was that one of the titans of logic featured in this thread?

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

I was referring to kevinl322 or whatever his name is. Not you.

Its not name calling. Call an apple an apple, call things what they are. Please tell me how you define a Bigot, if your actions on this thread to not make you a Bigot what would a person have to do to be called one?

And yes I'm telling you to raise your kids with an open mind, and allow them to become unique people. They will thank you for it someday!

Its name calling. Period.

And if you can provide any ACTUAL quotes from me that even resemble bigotry, I'll defer. I have only stated my opinion. Not that I actively seek to oppress homosexuals. Sheesh.

The quote function is your best friend, especially in this thread.

Some of you keep stating (even in bold, italics, etc) that whether or not gays marry has no effect on anyone else's lives

BECAUSE IT DOESN'T :D If you can prove to me that it has a direct affect on you or your kids aside from "not lining up with your beliefs or definition", then I will give you $100 internet dollars.

I don't want my kids thinking that's ok. Those are our religious views. That does not make me a bigot. Just a Christian.

Hmmm, I feel comfortable enough to say that those are most certainly bigoted views. Regardless of your religion, if it's against another group of people....it's bigotry. If you feel sorry for kevinj's students, then I feel sorry for your kids.

Bottom line: you don't get to say what does or does not impact other people. You are not other people. Therefore you are distinctly unqualified to make such a statement.

And likewise, you are not qualified to unqualify the qualifications of how people are termed. I've heard a lot of silly things on here, but to say that some one else is not "other people" ranks up there pretty high. I'm not you or him or them.....I am another person. I put the "other" in another.

I'll be sure to consider your advice on how to raise my children. Not!

Man you have some balls telling people how to raise their kids. And you claim to be a enlightened person, respectful of the rights of others. Yeah. That seems about right.

....****....just...got...real..... :0

Anyway, I don't agree with what this place is doing, its wrong and disgusting. I will still definitely go get food there though because it is delicious. It doesn't mean that I am supporting what they believe in though.

^^lol, I love that part where I didn't tell you how to raise your kids. Good times.....good times.:)

Also, you might want to be a little more careful, your hypocrisy is showing. ;)

That right there anyway you look at it makes you a bigot. I'ts not name calling its like saying someone has brown hair or blue eyes. you never did tell me what you think a Bigot is. What would someone have to say to be defined as a Bigot in your mind?

Well if you really wanna go there I'm standing up for your kids rights to be an individual!

Done.

This is kinda like wrestling with a pig in the mud. After a while, you realize, the pig is enjoying it!

Take that however you want. Bye bye for now...

Awww, and I was just starting to have fun too. ::rolls eyes::

Careful 99, you shouldn't be telling people how to raise their kids with your blatant disregard for not telling people how to raise their kids.

TheNewGuy I asked a few times what you think makes a bigot and avoid that. Is it because you know you can answer that question with out sticking your foot in your mouth. It's not my goal to personally attack you, but when you cant answer a simple question like that it makes it really hard to see your argument.

I have an issue with this and maybe you didnt mean it like this but I certainly am against some groups of people such as murderers and rapists. Those are groups of people. I think using the term group of people is too broad and gets us into the heart of the matter. The problem here is that religious community sees homosexuality as a choice and a sin...just as they see murderers and other "sinners". The homosexual community believe it is a genetic determination. I would go further to argue that "toleration" can be had regardless of religious affliation. Toleration is vastly different from acceptance and agreement. I dont think allowing homosexuals into a "civil union" in a nation that promotes "equality" treads on any religious ideals.

TTD 120mph's avatar

You're right, I meant it to relate to the context of the discussion (i.e. homosexuality). I would never go beyond my integrity as a human being to suggest that rapists, murderers, etc deserve any kind of sympathy. The difference is they have a direct and dangerous effect on the rights of others where as a homosexual does not......unless he's a homosexual AND a murderer.

But that is where I have a HUGE problem with most of those religious groups who group them with the rapists and murderers in terms of sinfulness. It's just sick to suggest such an idea. That goes double for the whole "it's a choice" debate. No body just up and becomes gay. Because the question could then be turned and ask as "So when did you make the choice to be straight?" It's in your genes......plain and (somewhat) simple. We're nothing more than living organisms following hormonal and chemical reactions.

^i don't think being straight or gay is in your genes is it? Isn't it more of how you are brought up? Lets say a straight couple produced you, but a gay couple became the adoptive parents, couldn't you become gay that way if they encouraged it? I think.it is just more about how you are brought up rather than your genes.
