Cell Phone Service

Verizon is the way to go. Best coverage out of any provider.

To cure that roaming problem, call *228 and update the roaming lists. It's option 2 I think.

I agree with everyone else about Verizon...I had it last year at the Point and it worked great. I've since switched to Nextel, but I can't yet say how that will work. My advice would be to check a map on your cellular service provider's website to see what areas are covered by your service and/or plan. You may also want to change your local area with them for a few months, if possible, unless your current plan has the same price per minute nationwide.

Ok, so I've never worked at CP, but I've used my Verizon phone from there many times with no problems as far as reception goes. Reception was especially great that one time I spent 20 minutes in a Mean Streak train at the top of the hill, but that's a different story..... :)

Now if only my stupid Verizon phone would work in Toledo. Anywhere I go in the city (but especially at the university and my house in Sylvania) I can't keep a call for crap. Upwards of 50% of my calls get dropped, and Verizon's customer service blows me off when I try to talk to them about it. Ok, ending rant in 3, 2, 1.

Friday, September 18th, 2003 at 10:10 PM. It finally happened. Rollback on Dragster in the front seat of the gold train!

I use Sprint all over the USA and it works fine at CP. The key with Sprint is to Lock on to "Sprint Digital only", then you will not be roaming on the "Canadian" system.
You can get Sprint w/o a contract but it adds like $10 a month to your service. My Sprint works really well (Virgin Mobile uses Sprint's network, that worked well too)

I've had Verizon for years and I love it. I was able to make and receive calls on point with no problem. I had friends that had other services, and all they ever did was complain about them and how they never had a signal on point.

I never had a signal in the Sandusky Mall, but I don't think anyone ever has. Other than that, there's no problem's with Verizon.

The only thing I can highly suggest, is no matter which company (especially Verizon) you go with, make sure you read your bill very closely each month. They've tried scamming me a few times.

Cellphone companies are evil. Very Evil.

T-Mobile hardley worked at all, If you are bring a Cell phone...try to get one with Sprint. It works great. All others it seams to fade in and out, and it will work in only certin places....My choice would be go with Sprint

I'm not sure if this will impact anyones decision, but Cingular Wireless is in the works of buying AT&T Wireless. This will make them the biggest wireless provider and given AT&T's coverage, the service may get better. Or maybe not - just a thought!

Service will proabably remain the same, but prices will stabilize if not increase, because there will be so much less competition.

I use alltel and don't have any problems when I'm down there.

Yeah, I have no intentions of changing from Verizon right now. Great deals, and their always throwing me bonus minutes...which makes it great sense I'm a talker (esp. during the day)

Just to get an idea of how my minutes will go this summer, how many peak minutes did everyone use.

Right now, I have 500, and I use all of them just in school, so I can imagine what the summer will be like. But I don't want to buy more if I'm not gonna use it!
