Cell Phone Service

Anyone got any advice on cell phone service that you used while at CP? Prepaid, contract, whatever.....

I am from near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I just extended my home area to include parts of Ohio (aka Sandusky) and it was just like being in Pittsburgh. Also depends on where you are from and what kind of service you have. Some plans you can get have no roaming no matter where you are. So it's all on you. What do you have and where are you from?

Okay I just saw that you are from Florida. Just get a plan where you can call anywhere from anywhere. Or, if you're not one for calling home much, just go with a calling card or something. I usually worked a lot so I rarely called any of my friends, but tried to call my family a few times a week. Even then, I didn't talk long, I was always rushed to get showered and to bed (or to the bar) :)

Most cells work on point. It's off point where some of them doesn't work. Especially in the Sanduksy Mall there's hardly any service.

Maybe just get one in ohio and use if for the summer? Just some ideas!

I think I mentioned it last year, but Sprint service is much stronger all-around the peninsula as of mid-2003. Commons on the other hand...

Sorry, we go by height...

Nextel barely worked anywhere around the point. Evryhere else except for Bayside it was good.

I had excellent reception with T-Mobile everywhere around Sandusky, and especially good reception in the park. The only trouble spot was inside my Bayside apartment!

I have Verizon as well, and I never had a dropped call or "no service". Everywhere, from the park, to around Sandusky worked for me.

Commons apts were another question. It would work if I was standing near the window on the 3rd Wednesday of every other leap year while Dragster wasn't launching. Other than that, it's a go!

I've got Alltel.. the only problems I had were the causeway side of Bayside. The "moat" side I was fine but there is a tower in Battery Park so it makes sense.

They used real steel and concrete when they made them buildings.. hehehe

Glad they didn't hold back on spending money on high-quality building materials. I would have rather had higher-quality (*insert any number of items*), but that's just me!

If you don't want a contract, I believe you can do that with Sprint, at least you used to be able to do that. I'm not too sure anymore. I've had verizon since I've had a cell phone and I haven't had a problem with em. Verizon has the nation wide long distance, but now, so does everyone else.

Yea im with Tobe...I have had T-Mobile for the past two years and i have not had any problems with them. However, from time to time i couldnt receive calls in the dorms but overall my service was great in Sandusky.

You have to remember Brian.. those dorms used to be apartments owned and built by someone before CP purchased them.

Ever notice the old intercom system that is still in some of the rooms?

Never had a problem with verizon. The only time I have a problem with them is when the stupid phone says i'm roaming and i'm in my home area.
