Oh, thanks mermaidsair. That is very sad. :( That's just one more reason why I shouldn't feel safe on Wave Swinger.
Wave Swinger and a Chance Yo-Yo are different mechanically. There is no reason not to feel safe on Wave Swinger, or a Yo-Yo that is well maintained for that matter. Chance released a new maintenance and inspection kit that should solve Yo-Yo problems.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I know there was another incident with a Yo Yo recently and Chance is resolving it. There are also different standards in different countries for safety. Germany has the toughest safety standards. I know there have been substantial problems in Japan. This would have little to do with Chance. All they can do is advise parks and if this is ignored it is not their fault.
I still feel safe on most rides even at carnivals. The odds are very low that I will be injured. Don't trust Zipper's though.
Really dislike being held in by a glorified safety pin and that my restraint is connected to a door which will open if the pin is not in right.
Chaos had a lot of issues but none at Cedar Point. That is why the restrainsts were changed a few years ago and now they have a second restraint going over the first restraints.
I'm going out to get some air.
Me and my fiancee just "rediscovered" Wildcat again this year after going a few years without riding it. I must say im glad they never got rid of it. I think its a great ride as well.
After the Mi Adventure accident with Chaos, I dont trust riding it. Im sure everything with it is fine, but its just not for me.
R.I.P. MrScott... You're greatly missed!!
Giant wheel. Ok, before you all groan too load, consider that it has a lot going for it. Great presence, nice location (although I still liked the old location behind the train station better - but at least it was moved for a good addition, i.e. MF), tremendous views with enough time to take some stunning pictures, and, on a breezy day, will give you butterflies in your stomach when you get stopped at the top of the wheel and the cabin is rocking. My wife, who loves coasters, has to be bribed to go on this one with me as she hates when the cabin rocks.

Do you still ride...
Wicked Twister (Steel Venom had an accident)
Top Thrill (KK had an accident)
Millenium Force (Superman:TR had an accident)
Magnum (Wild Thing had an accident)
Goodbye MrScott

Giant Wheel would be good if they would fill it. Nice line up they maintain as they fill 8 cars each ride. I only have issues with line for wild cat as well as I also just discovered that ride and like it.
Something cheap CP could do is alter wild cat to a spinning ride. They could use the track and add spinning cars if it is feesable. Cheaper than a new coaster.

The Giant Wheel does have a lot going for it. I love it's location. My biggest problem with it is it takes forever to load and unload.
I just looked up the incidents mentioned. I have to admit I am wary of Maggie now. I rode on a Monday and a Weds in the same week in August and on both occassions it was down due to a wheel coming off.
I still ride it though.

^What incident? I might feel unsafe about other coasters at other parks. But I feel very safe on CP's coasters.
"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"
I think CP is almost obsessive about their safety, so I feel very safe on their rides. Their overabundance of unnecessary trim brakes leaves a lot to be desired, however, even though it's really just another safety measure to prevent injuries.
As for underestimated rides ... I'd say Chaos, Witch's Wheel, Power Tower (red side) and Gemini. None of them ever have any lines and are all tons of fun. I can ride drop rides many places, even in the same park (Demon Drop) so the drop side of PT isn't that amazing to me and the launch side has never had a line when I've been there. Chaos is a lot of fun, flips you all over the place, and has no line. The Enterprise at King's Island (I think it was called Skywheel or something, don't remember now) was one of my favorite rides before they took it out and the first thing I ever rode that went upside down, so Witch's Wheel's got a special place in my heart for that. And Gemini, especially when the hosts are really amped up and getting everyone excited, is the best coaster in terms of just pure fun-factor. High-fives on the corners, for the win!
I doubt Magnum was down for a wheel coming off, most likely it was down to change a wheel after the plastic tire on the wheel wore out. That is a pretty common occurance and not dangerous at all.

Ripcord! and Power Tower (red). Also Demon Drop. It scares the crap out of me but I love it. ;)
Let's Get Weird.
Yes, Demon Drop definitely. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I love how "mechanical" it is. I know that's not the best word, but it's neat how many different positions the cars go through just to drop you. The scary part to me is when you're about to drop, worrying about if it aligned the car up correctly with the track. The G forces from going onto your back are also pretty unique. Please keep this ride CP, everyone else is taking them down.
I'm pretty sure there was an accident on another Intamin Demon Drop ride, where it dropped the car down the elevator shaft onto another car that was waiting in line.
But I ride it every time nonetheless.

Here's the rides I feel are underestimated:
WC- Looks kind of sissy, but gives a great, fun, fast ride!
ID-Can be somewhat boring if you sit near the front. I find the ride most fun towards the back.
DT-Sure the theming is not great, but I still think the ride is really fun. There are some fast turns and I think it's fun going through the dark.
I rode DT at park closing by myself and that was actually a fun ride. Walking through the absolutely empty queue alone and going on a solo trip to Alaska in the dark was quite intriguing.

Demon Drop is a GREAT RIDE! Why is all the parks either selling them or demoliting (sp) them? They are very fun and its always fun how fast they lift you up DD is push you over the edge and how you count 3 seconds before release! But why sell or get rid of them?
quote from Mean Streak operator, "Welcome to Mean Streak. It's so mean it'll rip the heads off your Barbie dolls and steal your lunch money!!!"
I guess they see them as outdated or something. Unfortunately, DD has been up for sale for quite some time, so who knows how long much longer we'll be able to enjoy it.
