Cedar Point's 2011 ride will target thrill seekers

Word.

Dragster and Millennium don't scare me in the least bit anymore. I get on the rides like I get in my car. Skyhawk...on the other hand, scares the crap out of me. I don't know, but it always feels like it's going to eject me (going forward) from the seat or drop me out (going backwards) of the seat at either apex.

I love the idea of having another terrifying ride, and Star Flyer would probably take the cake.

The only ride that scared me was Drop Tower at Kings Island. I rode it for the first time last week, and now its not so bad. Nothing really scares me anymore.

Drop Tower scared me the first time I rode it too, but like you said, after the first time it wasn't a big deal. I love DT, don't get me wrong, I'd take it over Power Tower all day, every day.

I think a Star Flyer would be so terrifying and intimidating I would have a hard time getting on that first time.

Weird idea, since cedar fair already owns the copy right on it it think, could Cedar Point be getting a Wooden Roller coaster names Intimidator? Stratasoar going to Kings Island or Valley Fair?

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

I don't think CF would start to share names across the chain. I think they see the crap Six Flags gets for doing that and don't think they would do it.

Intimidator & Intimidator 305? ;)

I thought the only reason they did that was because they paid so much to use the name that they wanted to use it as much as possible. I'm pretty sure Stratosoar isn't owned by anybody so they won't have to pay a bunch to use it.

Cedar Fair shares names across the entire chain, except for Cedar Point.

CP and vallyfair both have corkscrew. KI and carowinds have vortex.

Well, if you are holding out hope for a beach woodie. CedarFair wouldn't necessarily even need to file a trademark for "Cedar Point Cyclone".

On the Copyright Papers For Address It Says One Cedar Point Dr. In Sandusky. So I Think Its Safe To Assume StrataSoar is Going In Cedar Point.

That has nothing to do with where the name is going to be used; Cedar Fair corporate HQ is at One Cedar Point Drive in Sandusky. Every copyright or trademark in the entire chain shares that address.

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

Someone mentioned a Huss Fly Away...

My guess is that it was someone who has never *ridden* a Fly Away. :)

No, I've never ridden a Fly Away haha :P. Though in hindsight, I do see that that was a poor idea for the new ride. Either way, if it is a Star Flyer, I just hope that Cedar Point makes this ride incredible.

On second thought let's not go to Six Flags, 'tis a silly place.

Keeping with Cedar Point's tradition of poorly planned and poorly designed rides, I won't be surprised when the ride manufacturer and State of Ohio eventually determine that no one over 108 lbs or 5' 2" can ride StraToSoar. LOL.

FWIW with that capitalization I can already envision a logo with the tower as the "T" and the swings below forming the "S's.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

Capitalization isn't relevant in a trademark application. All the filings are like that.

"Stratosoar / Thrill Ride - Semi-Confirmed - (8/5/10) We’ve heard from a few readers that Cedar Point has set up a giant present box addressed to Snoopy near Planet Snoopy with instructions not to open it until August 8th. As predicted, this should be next year’s new attraction announcement. While the Stratosoar rumor is the strongest right now, it’s funny how the coaster rumor keeps popping up. Is it just a fanboy dream or a deliberate attempt at misinformation spearheaded by The Point? Perhaps a little of both… and maybe… just maybe… there could be some truth to it. To help keep their record intact, I have heard a new rumor claiming that the park just mightadd a new kiddie coaster to the Planet Snoopy area as well since SFMM is adding a kiddie coaster next year. Gotta keep that coaster count up you know" - Screamscape

I didn't think the present was going to be the new attraction. Lance does have some good points...maybe a baby coaster "for" Snoopy and the big Star Flyer to be announced later???

I can just imagine the anticipointment fueled whining on CP's facebook page if that is what happens.

Do you have any more information on this "present box?" Is it a promotional thing or just a random box laying out in a midway somewhere? :) I really hope that August 8th is the announcement date (that's more like EARLY August)

Has Cedar Point ever made a kid-coaster AND a thrill ride? It makes cense seeing the water line/electrical markings by planet snoopy but still vacancy by the Demon Drop spot.

Kinzel said that Cedar Point was going after the thrill seeker in 2011. Is there anything about the kids? or Cedar Point's coaster count?

And if August 8th is really the announcement date (which I hope it is,) we should know in 3 days.

^^^Wow, and I had just begun to start to believe 50% of what Lance tells me. Not any more!

The "giant" present in Kiddy Kingdom is only about 3-4 feet high. Cedar Point has already confirmed, through the FunTimes newsletter that I got today, that it is just for the celebration of Snoopy's 60th birthday this Sunday, August 8th. They said that there is a special surprise for the kids in there, while supplies last, hinting at a little Snoopy keychain or something, not a 2011 announcement.

As per the kiddie coaster rumor, one that I think he started himself, I don't think CP is so content on having the record that they'll put in another kiddie coaster, but then again, I could be wrong. (My reasoniong is, we already have 2, and Disney's Magic Kingdom, THE place for kids, has 3. Oh stats, I love you.)
