Last night we walked by the billboard. My girlfriend instantly says "Its just like SRF with 2 drops." She knows nothing about coasters, amusement parks, or anything about the industry. This is nothing like WWL and I also believe it is a replacement for SRF. I doubt this will turn out to be a "family ride", with theming or not.
Let's Get Weird.
What I want to know is when the water elemets are turned off in "certain weather conditions", will you still get drenched? I wonder if the drops after the hills will get you SRF soaked or WWL wet.
Sorry, if this has already been answered, I just came about this thread today.
^ Since the ride hasn't been built, no one knows. Also, we have no idea if/how much they will change the drenching levels in "certain weather conditions."

How can you change the drenching levels? I'm confused on that.
Install adjustable valves on the pipes feeding the water to water features (e.g. waterfalls and filling the splash down areas) and turn down / off the water to water falls and adjust the levels of water in the splash down areas when the "certain weather conditions" - aka, it's too cold - calls for it.
Only 2 posts on this topic yesterday? Things seem to be getting back to normal. ;)
I'll be interested to watch the webcam on the construction site. Seems like there is number of elements they will be dealing with (Paddlewheel, Railroad, Lagoon, etc)

Just happened to get bored and went to see if the webcam was up for STR and as of right now the Frontier Trail webcam is not up and running. Looks like we could be starting to watch construction tomorrow. :)

I don't know how exciting men with shovels will be. But I guess there is something for everyone on a webcam:)
Just wondering since the announcement was a couple weeks ago, have they started doing any groundwork yet?
If anyone goes to the park today we will probably find out tomorrow if anything has been done. And the webcam is not up and running yet so we really have no clue.

Aside from minor landscaping, nothing's been done yet.
The cam's been installed, but we have some configuring to do. We'll update everyone soon.

I have been reading up on here about the adjustable soaking possibility and was just wondering if anyone ever stopped to consider just how adjustable it really could be. I mean plenty of people want as little as possible and that is good and still others want just as drenched as SNF but heres a thought. What about rider selected settings? Basically the riders tell the operator how soaked they want {or not at all} and the water elements are activated/adjusted according to that boat. The technology already exists i.e. programmable foutains such as the ones at the hard rock in pittsburgh. Actually I was watching those foutains today and they are what had me thinking about it. Some of the foutains were giving off to much mist during a show today which caused some people to complain and the operator told me about it being programmable and he just lowered it a couple levels to tone down the mist. He told me all the functions from how powerful the jets are to how much water was being dumped at any moment to how wide the spouts are were all fully adjustable and could be changed on a whim to suit anyones enjoyment.
Tie in a system like this with a system that tracks a boat and now you have what you need for fully adjustable features that are rider selected and operator initiated. Of course I am not CP and am not sure if thats what they are doing. Just throwing a thought out there.
Interesting idea, but in order to accomplish that CP would need to do more than simply change some water jet settings. They would essentially need to constantly be filling and draining the splashdown areas. This would take some time, and I'm sure that would hurt capacity alot.

I doubt they can change the water level much in the splash down area since that affects braking of the boat. But, I don't think the splashes will get you soaked like the Snake River Falls splashdown. Going by the animation, it seems like a much more gradual entry than Snake River.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Doesn't a boat hold 10 people? What if 5 want to be soaked and the other 5 want to be dry? This is why its not possible.

^ put those who want to be soaked on 1 side, those who don't on the other side. Adjust the water output accordingly. :)
