It can't be shipped all at once. But, they could ship as needed. Where as Intamin track is coming from overseas (as far as I know).

I'm assuming that they just use regular flatbed trucks for shipping? How many pieces can fit on one?
I would think it would depend on which pieces (curved or straight...also, the lift hill pieces are heavier, I think), but I remember seeing at least 3 Wild Eagle pieces on a truck headed to Dollywood last year.

I figure they ship track just like any other package: UPS Ground.
Dose any one know the track they will take to cedar point. since work i off 270 i thought i could start looking for track, if that would be the way.unless the will take 71 all the way up
Anyone else notice how much x flight breaks down?? I hope that doesn't happen to gatekeeper!
Sit upright, hold on tight, and enjoy your ride!
I haven't heard of X-Flight having any down time. There certainly isn't much discussion on CBuzz.

Riding X-Flight in June, we had no problems with it being down nor did we see it not running at all that day. Albeit its just one day from my experience, it seems that if it was having problems, we would have seen at least a glimpse of it. Good ride, really fun, but really short. Glad GK is a longer ride and it seems to have a much bigger footprint. We all liked X-Flight so I'm sure GK is gonna be great! Ride Ops were pretty slow all over SFGA that day but they seemed to have a good handle on loading/unloading X-Flight, even with the shelf/bin system.

The track is being stored offsite at another location in Sandusky.

That is actually right across from the entrance to Cedar Point. I noticed it when I was there Friday.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
But we don't know if that's for sure being used to store the track.

I'll just report that I was at Great America the other day and X Flight did have a small bout of downtime. It looked like a blocking issue but it was hard to tell for sure. Though it appeared to be the only bit of downtime all day. And riding it really got me excited for GK.

Although that may be a good guess, I would bet that those construction walls will be used to hide a renovation of that property. That location will be a future ride mechanic warehouse of sorts. I would guess that track will be stored at Breakers Express like Maverick, or in the preferred parking lot once the park is closed for the season.

^ That is the location of the new mechanics workshop for maintaining/fixing rides. You're right it is located across the street from Castaway Bay/ by main entrance of CP. I do believe track will go in the $25 preferred parking area in November. Anyhow, just got back from the park and got some current construction photos of the Gatekeeper site. I emailed them to Walt at his main email (not dropbox, had a problem with it). The footers for the first inline roll (after the lift hill) as well as footers for track traveling back to the loading station are going up as we speak. I can see the white parade storage tent being moved eventually over to the right.
P.S. For old timers, The House on Boo Hill has the fortune teller from the old Earthquake ride in the left outside window! The Cutthroat Cove haunted attraction was closed, but I did check out the Eden Musee wax museum which had two creepy rooms. Check out Skeleton Crew for Halloweekends if you get the chance also, pretty neat.

You know how various parking lots are filled with coaster trains in the off-season? That's what will eventually happen at the off-point mechanical shop. Instead of enclosing (and inefficiently heating) the picnic pavilions, and tearing down two or three cars at a time, they can use a real building and go at more pieces at once.
