Cedar Point 2012

Those Proslide racer mat slides are a blast. I must have ridden it 25x when I was at Holiday world a couple weeks ago. They have the 10 lane model. I never lost once.

I think soak city should get one of those body slides with a funnel. I like those. I always call it the toilet bowl. :)

Okay so about this Canada's Wonderland thing for 2012...does it worry anyone else that Gary Slade is saying if he could only ride one ride in 2012 this is the one? I feel like that would have to be a pretty amazing ride to rather ride it than any other ride in the world...

Yeeaaaah. I'm going with 'hype' on that one.

Scared? Why would it be bad if another park built a great coaster?

Visit Canada's Wonderland, and enjoy it! :) There is a whole world of parks out there to explore.

This article supports the rumor of the Dinosaurs Alive thing coming to the Point.

Under the plan, the dinos come to Millennium Force Island and a permanent bridge is built to that area. Kiss Paddlewheel Excursions goodbye in the process.

With the (rumored) end of PE, what was the point of designing Shoot the Rapids to not interfere with the former in the first place?

The article also mentions a "new, smaller roller coaster" in 2013. Does that mean a kiddie coaster or something that takes up a small footprint?

I have not been to the park since 2007 (first year for Maverick), and I am not getting my hopes up for the park anytime soon. I am starting to wish I was closer to Valencia (north of Los Angeles).

That article does no such thing. It just says there are several CP fan sites that are claiming PWE will be gone. The author does no legitimate research of his own. That a legitimate newspaper is citing screamscape should set off alarm bells in anyone's head.

Translation = I have no clue what is going on. Because of that, I'm going report on things being talked about on fan sites and report them as news.

Maybe its all true. But since the reporter is using fan sites as his source, I dont have much confidence in the reports accuracy.

I don't get it. Why shut down PE? They could still do the (not good) dinosaur alive and keep the ride by building a bridge like they did on STR. I hope they do not do the dinsosaurs. We went to the one at KI last month and I was not impressed. There is not a great deal of movement on these, the sound is poor, and they did not even work right. We had to wait and wait for them to turn on which many never did. Also, in speaking with one of the employees I learned that the T-rex was the largest but was not supposed to be. Another larger model caught fire and burned up prior to the exhibit opening. On that note, maybe they should put this exhibit under mean streak?

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

If you are a journalist and reference Screamscape, you should automatically be fired.

Well, the article doesn't give me any confidence in the Register. Maybe they should write an article about how the petting zoo is a very important attraction at Cedar Point.

They should just do a Primeval-like setup along the CP&LE rail road.

I think the whole point of why Dinosaurs Alive has been successful is because people are paying extra money to see it. There would really be no point to adding it unless they can charge extra for it.

I don't see them charging for what was formerly Paddlewheel Excursions, so it's more likely that they will convert Millennium Island from pirates to dinos and then use it both during the season and during Halloweekends.

Cut the reporter some slack. I don't think he ever said what was or wasn't happening next year. He was just reporting on the buzz being generated in the fan community.

^ I understand that he was reporting on the "buzz" on many CP websites like this one, but there's good journalism and bad journalism. If you don't have hard facts, don't speculate. I feel like the article should have gotten pulled by some editor along the line.

The entire point of the article was to summarize current speculation. If you don't like speculative articles, don't read them.

What was in the box yesterday, anyway?

But how would you know that article was speculative without reading it first?
