Cedar Point 2012

My favorite part about that Discovery video is the two random shots of Kingda Ka in place of Dragster.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Haha I don't get why they did that.

But what do you guys really think about all of those designs?

Doesnt it take them 3 or 4 years to plan and design a major coaster? it's been 4 since that documentary was filmed

It's been at least 5 since that doc was filmed, if it came out in 2006.

And while it may take 4 years to plan an entire new attraction project, the plans in the early stages are amorphous - thinking about the target audience, placement in the park, etc. The actual design doesn't come until later.

In short, I doubt what you're seeing there has anything to do with CP's next installation.

Don't forget that CP planning and design is involved with more parks than just CP. They way I heard it, a lot of planning for other parks takes place there since CF headquarters is based at CP. Some of those designs were probably from other rides. Those zacspin designs were probably some they liked, but ended up not going with.

I heard it was going to be an underwater zacspin and we can't see the markings because a scuba team has been setting those up in the lake.

I heard that if you're at the top of the Millenium Force and look towards the bay, you can see underwater welders putting together the track for the new zacspin. ... i read it on screamscape... it has to be true.

Speaking of Screamscape, they've posted what is, in my opinion, their most likely rumor to date:

Screamscape sources tell us that Cedar Point will actually add some kind of multi-lane matt racer slide to Soak City for the 2012 season.

There have been markings near the old speed slides, and as Ralph pointed out, those slides aren't exactly spring chickens.

Might we be seeing one of these installed next year as a replacement?

Soak City could probably use more than that. Maybe a racer and a bowl? How much would that cost? 6 million?

I wonder if it will be the Screamscape rumored Racer that was suppose to go to Geauga Lake a year or two ago, which turned out to be a concrete lounge area. :)

Visual Scan!
First Top Thrill Dragster train of 2011!
Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!

I looked around soak city today under the speed slides and there have already been trenches dug up, filled in, and grass seed planted. I don't think there is anything other than a repair happening or happened. Don't see why they would lay down seed just to tear it out again in 3 months. I really think at this point people are wishful thinking. Repairs have to happen sometime and I say this is the year for it.

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

No reason they can't add a racer slide and keep the existing slides. There should be enough space to fit that in.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I think something like this would be a nice add.

Not only is SC getting older, but there is plenty of newer slides/attractions that they don't have, simply because they have let it sit for so long. A funnel, a water coaster, racing slides, newer-generation speed slides, the list goes on...

Promoter of fog.

Ok, im not gonna read the hundred or two hundred comments that have been posted since i last logged on, so can someone explain to me about the plans and everything important thats gone over? Please?

You haven't missed much. A lot of gossip and rumors bandied around, but nothing concrete or substantial. No prep work has been identified, no announcements have been made (unless you like cookies), no hints on On Point blogs, nothing from Kinzel or Ouimet, nothing. Zero. Nada. Goose egg. The big 'O'.

I recommend checking back in another hundred posts or so. We may know something by then.

Or maybe not. ;)

thanks. hahahaha. maybe they'll announce that 500 foot woodie. ;)

installed next year as a replacement?

This kind of looks like the old sky slide painted and the ride ops at the top pouring buckets of water down.

This is hard to read. Somebody knows somthing.

Heard the funniest thing while at the park today. A lady behind me inline for TTD said that this is the last year for it. I turned to her and i asked why. and she said that her uncle works for cp, and the park is tearing it down this year. I just looked at her and chuckled, and turned back around lol

it must be the lemon chill guys sister..
