It looks like you haven't been here for a long time. There was a huge discussion about it a few months back.

Back when the "relocations" were announced, a lot of folks suspected a multi-year, multi-attraction project. I think it's safe to say that's what's happening.
My guess is that the Dive Coaster and the Dark Ride will be installed in that area. Probably the Dive Coaster in 2016 and the Dark Ride in 2017.
There may be some smaller attractions and some finishing touches added in 2018 (like the Gemini Midway).
That's just my guess. I have nothing substantial to base it on other than the same information everyone else has.
A dark ride and a coaster in that short of a time frame would be great, a few years ago I wouldn't have thought it possible but now, who knows. Starting with Gatekeeper, Breakers, The Gemini Midway, Rougarou, Lakeside Pavilion, and all of the other projects that have been going on I wouldn't have thought another major project would have been started in such a short time frame. But alas, it is obvious another large project(s) is indeed underway, what it will end up involving - I have no idea. But if it is anything like the last several that the park has completed I am very excited to see what they have planned.

Yes... On opening day the first thing I'm gonna do is race to that pavillion. Forget Rougarou, Millenium Force, and all the beautiful trees! That pavillion is where it's at! ;-)
In all seriousness though I agree with you. The pace of development does seem like its picked up in a major way... For all the parks. (Think Banshee, Fury, WMG, etc...)
Given the tough economy and they heavy debt load they took on with Paramount... I think a lot of companies would have halted all development and "coasted" for a decade. Folks are going to show up to ride Millenium Force no matter what. Why not ride that gravy train for a while and stabalize the finances?
Clearly that would have been the wrong decision.
Instead, CF doubled down on investing in the guest experience. They dramatically improved the live performances. They've done a lot to engage folks who aren't as keen to ride roller coasters. It's returning to being the "family park" I knew as a kid.
Yes, I'm the first to complain about the souvenir cups. I also find it amusing that park policies change betwen employees.
Still, overall I'm very impressed with the way the parks are being managed.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a dark ride take the place of the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.
Putting a big building in what is arguably one of the most beautiful, natural areas of the park seems like a poor choice to me.

This may sound somewhat random, but since CCMR was mentioned, I have always thought that if Cedar Point ever went the route of a flying coaster(which I highly doubt), then it would fit best in the area of CCMR. It would be a great effect with the water right below riders as they fly over it. I think that the area that CCMR takes up is too valuable to be used as a dark ride because of its scenery. It would be an easy place to add theme to. I think adding a dark ride building there would detract from its charm.
I am of the opinion that the park needs to either add something to the experience of CCMR such as mild theming, or scrap it all together for something greater. It is a great in-between coaster for younger riders and the park needs those, but as it is it is a waste of high potential if you ask me.
I was envisioning something more along the lines of Wonder Mountain's Guardian in that space - not a giant metal box with four walls. Creating a new dark ride presents some unique opportunities to utilize exterior design elements that might otherwise look out of place in other sections of the park. The area where the mine ride sits now does have some natural features and those could be incorporated into the design of the attraction in a unique way. As CoasterCam stated, that spot is underutilized right now and a new family attraction could compliment both the Gemini Midway and Frontier town very nicely in my opinion. Creating the sensation of going underneath the park, down into a mine perhaps, could be a fun experience.
Now, am I dead set on arguing in favor of a dark ride in that spot until my face turns blue? No. It was just a thought. I think CoasterCam's idea is an interesting one as well and it would be nice to see another coaster in that section of the park.
I would like the station for the new roller coaster to be in the Blue Streak midway. If it's not, that area is going to be even more quiet than it used to be.
Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!
When Cedar Point gets the indoor coaster I dont think it will be a sqaure or octogon shaped building. I'm hoping it will look like a mountain with rocks on it.
If they're going with a basic building for a dark/indoor ride, I prefer to see this supposed ride located more in the middle of the park. I'm tired of the outskirts of Cedar Point being blocked with hideous structures.
We don't know that the structure will be hideous. Going by recent projects, my money is on a nice structure.

I agree that whatever houses the inevitable dark ride would be an aesthetically-pleasing structure. The problem with using CCMR's location is that it would be a structure at all. Why replace this view with a view of a building, regardless of how nice it is?

Agreed, that area is one of the most picturesque area of the park and the CCMR fits in perfectly. It still serves it's purpose as a mild family coaster, as it has for years. Why mess with something that is not broken?

The only thing broken about CCMR is its height requirement which leaves out the family demographic. If I am tall enough to ride both Magnum and Mine Ride- why am I going to waste my time? It needs to be lowered, or new trains need to be added so the ride can hold a 40" requirement like Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom
I would say the best place to put a big box would be near the bathrooms by magnum and behind corkscrew out of the view of Hotel Breakers. There is a bunch of stuff there so it would fit in there.
SV ruins all other rides.
Some people find Magnum too aggressive so they like Mine Ride in spite of being able to ride both. Being a family coaster means it can be enjoyed by a wider audience, not just hard core thrill seekers. A family can certainly be people that are all 48" or taller, family coaster doesn't necessarily mean "little kid sized".
