(Casinos) The second biggest little city in the world

Last month there was a lot of talk in Toledo and NW Ohio about Indians who used to live in the area trying to get some and back and build a casino/hotel resort area...apparently its already fizzing out, but who knows..... What do you think if they could open some casinos on 250? I think it would be pretty cool.

It has everything to do with Cedar Point, because casinos have been talked about for many years on the North Coast. It would dramatically change the face of tourism in the area.

I think a lot of the negative stigma attached to casinos has faded since the Canadian casinos opened and Vegas has become so, I don't know, fashionable. I don't have a strong opinion either way. I enjoy hanging out in casinos, but I don't do much gambling. It's all about the alcohol and eye candy for me.

So basically, it would draw more attention to this area and Cedar Point? Now I get what you're saying....

Casino Windsor will be receiving a $324 million expansion set to be completed in 2007. I smell competition.

Ohio will never get a casino with a right governor and assembly. They have to pass everything, even Indian casinos. Republicans will never let any form of casino gambling anywhere near Ohio.

Let us just hope that.

I bet you would say that living in Michigan, were everynight you can count ppl headed to detroit casinos to spend money there, Ohio schools could use that major tax revenue

I'm familiar with what the casinos in Detroit do for our schools. But Gambling can have very bad affects on people, like my grandma who had a gambling problem and lost ALOT of money.

Casinos have many pros and cons. There will never be a day when every person has the same feeling about them. There will always be those who support them and there will always be those who do not support them. It's just the the proposed border crossing for Windsor-Detroit. Many people support it but there are also those who don't. Casinos will bring in money for education and an improved Windsor-Detroit border crossing will make traffic move faster and bring in more money to both cities' auto industry. It's all up to the government.

I think casinos would do wonders for Ohio schools which are in dire shape. However, in a right state right now we won't see casinos anytime soon. And it really doesn't look that good for the democratic party anytime soon. America could realistically become a one party country real soon. The democratic party just isn't in sense with what middle America wants and needs and that could ultimately be it's demise. I don't see Dean helping much either. Whhhhooooooooaaaaaaaaaaa! (I couldn't help myself!)

I don't know which Michigan you're living in, but in the one I'm from the casinos in Detroit haven't done much good for the schools in that city, they're in just as much poor shape as they were before the casinos were built.

I honestly think they would have been better off building that giant Michael Jackson theme park/resort because at least then we'd have something in our state worth mentioning, even if it is attached to a national oddity.

I just remembering hearing something during the presidental election about our casinos, and schools and somebody wanting to do something about the something that the casinos contribute to the schools....I dont know I wasnt really paying attention.

And belive me I'm WELL aware of how bad our schools still are. But I'm pretty sure that the casinos contribute something to SOME schools.....small it may be.

As wild as that sounds, I thought I'd toss it in. I can't particularly imagine a casino in that building, but stranger things have happened I suppose . . .

I see the bus waiting at commons now every Thursday night for the casino.

I too heard somewhere that Breakers is wired except I heard it was for slots and video poker only. Not any table games.

Throwing money at schools doesn't make them better. We have in Ohio a problem with building facilities, yes, and the funding system is broken, yes, but simply throwing money at schools won't fix anything.
