Calypso and Turnpike Cars land

It does seem strange that they would leave blue streak by itself but they know what they are doing and I'm sure that in a few years it will have at least a couple of "companions." (I'm not referring to just coasters). Whatever they do to the area, I'm hoping they extend the midway to the railroad station, I'm sure it will bring more riders to Blue Streak.

I know these areas are reserved for "future expansion", but I am curious as to how they will be during the 2015 season. Will they have large grassy areas where we could enjoy them, or will they be fenced off as sort of a no mans land? The BS midway might not be so desolate if you would walk through the grass to get back to the midway.

Our land issues have been resolved for at least the next two years. My guess is this area will continue to develop until Cedar Point's 150th anniversary. I am glad that dodgem was repositioned by the Wicked Twister Midway. An amusement park is just not the same without bumper cars. Dorney Park lost its bumper cars when Demon Drop was moved there, and its been a request of guests ever since. Glad Wicked Twister's midway is getting some loving. I've always felt that that section of the park, despite being near the front of the park and receiving two large additions (Gatekeeper and Windseeker) has been relatively quiet. I don't find myself bumping into people in that area. Calypso is another classic ride that I am glad has been preserved. I think a dive machine would be a good edition to the park. Sheikra and Griffon are bother terrific rides from my experience. Glad that Cedar Point is taking advantage of what it has. Rougarou is a perfect example. I think we can all say Cedar Point is really making some good decisions.

New for 2018... RMC Iron Horse!!!

I thought I heard it said somewhere, maybe it was on this site, that a park official mentioned that it might be two years, or even the 150th season, before anything goes into this area. But this sounds crazy to me because why would they move all of these rides if it is just going to sit as empty space, when they could leave all of them until they are ready to put something there. It just doesn't sound right to me, especially under current management. Whatever they are going to do with this land(dive coaster or not), I would say they will start with the 2016 season. Can anyone confirm that they said that or is it just what some reporter thought that they meant?

I remember Tony had said during a podcast that he was excited for the future and mentioned the 150th as a MAJOR milestone for the park. Thats all I can remember when mentioning expansion for the 150th.

I have listened to this about three times. Haha. I was asking about a recent interview but I'm not sure where I saw it.

Maybe the land / area requires a higher than normal (for what we've seen lately at CP) land prep. Gatekeeper was pretty impressive to get up and going in the short time given but didn't require alot of land prep. Maybe this requires a bit more. Maybe it's a big picture type thing and there is more than just a ride to consider for this space.

It's a pretty big slate they are giving themselves - I doubt it will go to waste.

remember: no matter where you go... there you are.

Is everyone forgetting about Maverick?
Remember, WWL was removed and everyone was shocked. It seemed like poor timing, and while we were promised it's replacement would be well worth it, it remained a mystery and the speculation flew around much as it is now. That winter a train track was re-routed and electricity was run to the back of the park.
Then throughout the following season we watched construction. The land was cleared and footers were going into place. Keen eyes were able to determine the style of coaster we were looking at, but the park remained tight lipped. Track showed up in the holding area and was installed little by little. Still no announcement.
Finally when the ride was really beginning to take shape (the first drop was already up, IIRC), the announcement was made. There were still some surprises revealed for us. The trains, the stacked launches, the theme, etc.

So I wouldn't be at all surprised if whatever is in store for Cedar Point in 2016 starts to take shape in 2015. The area is already being prepped and I bet we see progress of some sort all through the 2015 season. There will be clues that they can't hide and before we know it the time will come this summer when we find out what will be.

Then there will be a long, cold winter of staring at webcams...

One question I forgot to ask was if the GTT and Dodgem area will be a fenced of construction site this summer or if they will plant some grass and landscaping. I thought I remember reading somewhere that Jason said it would be a lawn, but I can't remember the source.

In my group, someone, I think Jason said there could be fences up there.

Besides a coaster, new show venue, and shops, or a dark ride what kinds of flat rides could they put into this area as well? I think they already have a really strong flat ride lineup, but what are the possibilities? I can't really think of another flat ride that I have seen that I would want at CP besides maybe a large Falcon's Fury-like drop tower, but they do have Power Tower.

RCMAC, i have also taken that into consideration but if Cedar Fair is sticking to B&M then I don't understand why it would take so long to build. I'm saying this because of how fast B&M can build their coasters. So what I am thinking is there is a slight possibility that it won't be a B&M. That's of course if a coaster is going there, which in my opinion think there will be.

Who says it's going to be just one attraction? The 150th anniversary coming up? There are some of us that remember what the park did for the Centennial. George Roos went on a serious shopping spree for that. I'm not saying to expect anything like the Million Dollar Midway, but it wouldn't surprise me that they have something spectacular planned.

Well if its not a dive coaster like everyones talking about, maybe they're planning on building a new theatre along with the ride. Obviously it would be smaller so you can accommodate possibly a new roller-coaster as well. Let's face it, I'm sure some families are upset with good bye Theater being demolished. I could see a new roller coaster going in along with something family related going in.

I'm with Dutchman, I think this will be more than just one thing. The entire area will be redeveloped into something that will be really spectacular.

Well, no. These days I'd expect a Billion Dollar Midway.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the world's tallest, fastest dueling Larson Loops to go in this area in 2016.

Does anyone know if the land being redeveloped already has all the utilities (water, electricity, gas) set up through this area (other than what was necessary for the attractions being removed)? I know that Wonderland was built with all these running throughout the park property (including areas still not yet developed in 2014) so they wouldn't have to have as high expenses or time involved in adding anything new wherever they wanted, but was told many parks don't have this. Since this area didn't have very major attractions on it (relatively speaking) and hasn't had anything new since the 70s, they may need to install all of this for upcoming additions such as shops, washrooms, and of course rides. If that is necessary, there could be a LOT of digging going on this season between Blue Streak and CP & LE Railroad.
