Bubbles area 21 and over at Soak City

It's been my experience in some places I've worked that when you do have the inclination to go ahead and do something that's not your job getting the equipment to do the job sometimes becomes an issue.

That's true. From what I've seen at cedar point, although I've never worked there or have any experience other than what I've seen, they don't give employees downtime to clean. That costs money.

Anyone know if the bird's nest above the uncovered ice bin has been removed, yet? If not, considering how harmful it might be to consume bird droppings, maybe the health department might need to be called in.

In theory, it sounds easy to move a birds nest. But if there are birds living in it, it may be more difficult, especially if there are eggs or baby birds in there.

Then you look for other options to keep your food service area clean. Bottom line is that it shouldn't have happened to begin with so if its still happening, then clearly the new management in Soak City isn't getting better with time.

Well, this food service business needs to decide which is more important. I am a lover of animals, but if people get sick at your business due to you serving them contaminated food, it takes a VERY long time for your business to recover after the press reports it. I was a general manager of a Taco Bell in 2006 when the contaminated lettuce got people sick. Our sales dropped at least 75%. I ended up having to take several people off of the schedule for weeks and since they were only part time, they received no unemployment pay. I ended leaving that job shortly after the whole lettuce ordeal.

They need to pour triple shots at the regular price to kill all bacteria.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Sent an email of my concerns to CP. I received a response from Pat Kelley informing me that the bird nest has been removed, the area has been completely sanitized and that the bar staff has been retrained on cleanliness. Hopefully, they keep up with it. I really like going to that bar when I need a break from the water park. I just prefer that I not be grossed out by drinking from there.

I agree with your concerns. I just walked the path to Sandcastle a couple minutes ago and the staff over there was cleaning the bar and the tables. Seems like the message got across.

We were there last weekend (7/11-7/12) and the lazy river was so bad my 11yr old got out to tell me how disgusting it was. I took a look, she was right.

Just tried to compliment the manager on duty at Bubbles who allowed dirty footprints to be left across the entire countertop on how much cleaner the place is. All she did was accuse me of being responsible for baby birds being killed and that bird crap in the ice is the same as birdcrap in the chlorinated swimming pool. Looks like I need to get someone fired.

I'm a little confused. Was the manager on duty that you tried to compliment the same manager that allowed dirty footprints, or a different manager? How did a compliment on cleanliness jump to killing baby birds?

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

On one occasion, someone with dirty shoes had walked across the entire bar and had left sandy shoe prints on the bar while this incompetent manager was in charge. On another occasion, I noticed a bird's nest, complete with a bird, above the drink ice bin. I emailed my concerns. Pat Kelly responded, saying things were being taken care of. So, I am at Soak City right now. I tried complimenting the lazy ass manager on how much nicer things were. And that I was happy that her customers no longer in danger of becoming ill from from birdcrap falling into the drink ice. Rather than her feeling guilty about the nest being allowed to be built in the first place, she blamed me for baby birds having to be killed. She, obviously, needs to be fired.

I'm with you there Zoug. Anyone who doesn't take food safety seriously and who puts baby birds above not having bird crap in peoples drinks doesn't deserve to have a job in a food service location. The nest should have never been allowed to last long enough to have baby birds in it.

Just left a voice mail for Patrick Kelly. Let's see what happens?

So it was the same manager.

Okay. From what you've said she does need to be fired, not only for a failure of leadership but for failing to interact appropriately with guests.

(Though... if your approach was to tell a lazy ass manager that you were glad customers weren't in danger of getting sick from birdcrap falling into the ice, I can understand how she might not have taken that as a compliment.)

While I will agree that this is not a person who should be interfacing with the public, it sure sounds like you were trying to be a confrontational jerk.

I ran a restaurant that received awesome customer compliments. When some customers found out I was leaving, they came back every day before I left. Mystery shoppers always put how friendly I was no matter how pissed off I was because of things going on that they had no idea of.
I tried complimention her and all she could do was blame me for baby birds being killed that should never have been born above an open drink ice bin.
She, although she was manager in charge, blamed the crew for being bad when the footprints were left on the counter top and said they had gotten rid of them....they are still working there at this very moment. Not only does she not care about the customers' wellbeing, she blatantly lied to mh face.
Defend her all you want and attack me all you want, Jeff, but this person is a lousy manager and most would agree with me.

When a food service manager says that swimming in a chlorinated swimming pool is the same as drink bird crap in your drink, it's time she be relieved of her duties. Whether you believe I was confrontational or not, once she made that claim, I knew it was time to complain about HER!

I'm not defending her; she needs to be fired, as I noted above.

According to you, the footprints and the bird nest are gone, and the place is clean. You could have simply complimented her on the place being clean.

But, according to you, your "complimention" included how glad you were her customers weren't in danger of becoming ill from birdcrap in the ice. That's not a "complimention". That's being a confrontational jerk.
