Walt is right. You want to consider the sun when placing the webcams. You don't want to wind up with a decent picture only half the day.

Just about any place you put a camera, the sun is going to be a problem some of the time.

Some of the time, yes, but there are going to be better places to put and angle the camera than others.

i think in the parking lot, to see the attendance\traffic for the day. More night trips for locals with season passes on light days!!!

I can see the threads now... "They only parked 2,900 vehicles last hour!" ;)

I would think they won't put it where people can get close to it and do "questionable" things on the cam. I also don't think they'd point it at a pool or beach where people could "spy" on guests in bathing suits. LOL!!

As a long shot, I submitted the following location:

1. On top of the space spiral/needle facing the rear of the park, so everyone can see how big and beautiful cedar point is.

That's pretty high up there..

When the webcam was on TTD facing the parking lot, you could see a lot of stuff...

As for the sun's location, I believe it will be behind the camera all day.

That's all I got.

I also submitted the idea for this location, sounds like a good one.

I completely agree with you Tim on the whole privacy and questionable gestures from guests. That's why I say a coasters station (Mavericks) would be great since you wouldnt have to worry about sunlight and you can put it high up in the corner of the station so no one (that is people that dont know) will really notice it and thus will not do anything inappropriate. Heck they might think that it's just another security camera.

I think it would be neat if the security cams were available webcam style on the website. Unfortunately, I doubt this will ever happen.

I believe the Demon Drop was one of the original webcam locations when they were first installed... at least, I remember one being there.

I put in for the interactive camera mounted on top of MF with pan, tilt and zoom. Probably wont happen but theres allways hope.

Apparently on top of TTD, Space Spiral and I'm assuming Power Tower, MF, etc... are out. They said on the blog they're too hard to maintain. I thought they had one on top of TTD for a while. Then again, didn't it go down a lot? LOL!!

My "new" vote is for Mean Streak looking towards Maverick or in the Maverick station. Even if you can't pan, tilt & zoom, I think a live feed in the station would be awesome!!

The cams that are high up are not only hard to maintain, they get boring pretty fast. When they had cams on top of Power Tower and Dragster, they provided some nice views, but it the view never really changed. Something that is more focused on something would be much better. Something around the front gate or on top of a building facing Maverick would be pretty cool.

Oh, and as far as doing "questionable things" to the web cam, I do believe last summer someone caught an image of some girl riding Sky Ride showing off her assets.

Why am I just now finding out about this Chris? Come on man, your better then that.

I voted for on top of Speed Freaks, facing the Main Midway. I think they should keep the one on Snake River Falls, and rotate it about 30 degrees clockwise, to see more of Frontier Town.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Chris is right when he says high web cams can be much less interesting. That's why the Sky Ride has been a good location.

No camera would be at ground level. A beach/boardwalk cam can certainly be placed where you get a nice, varied view, and not be intrusive on any level.

I think they would have a problem with this one, only because in that shot you'd also be able to see Cash Control and the warehouses back behind the games, and I just can't see them liking that at all.

(I know you can just ride the Space Spiral and see it, but to have all day access to it is different)

Read the first comment of the T&T blog. None on top TTD or anywhere else that wouldn't be very easy to put a cam.
