Yep, Magnum also seems to burn through a lift motor just about every year which has been about 3-4 hours in my experiences.
Then you will have those mornings once or twice a season when it is down from opening until 11:30 or so for "welding."
Most other down time is 5-10 minutes here or there for a bad wheel.
That ride is normally pretty solid though. I think they could probably care for the trains a bit better than they do since they take a pretty good beating.

What don't they weld at CP? :) Track, supports, trains, platform gates, signs are all things frequently welded probably in any amusement park.
I was actually surprised to learn how often it happens. But I guess it's not really a cause for concern since the rails on Magnum were welded together when the ride was first built.
Now when they start using duct tape, that's another story... ;)

When I got to ride it for my first time in May of 2005, my dad and I went straight for it and got on with about a 5 minute wait. It also depends on where you want to sit in the train. For example, if you want to ride front or back row, you can expect longer lines. If you want to ride in the middle (like I did), there will be shorter lines.

There is NOTHING like a front seat ride on either of the big ones. Millie you'll end with tear streaks going back from your eyes, and the first time I rode Top Thrill front seat I lost my voice =D
Both are WELL worth the wait in my opinion, the last seat on Dragster is pretty good too (nice kick when you enter the upward curve).
