I think they have to do the concrete portion of the ride.
Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc
and make the surrounding area halfway decent looking, maybe a bush here and there...

Will Shoot the Rapids offer an on-ride picture? I thought I heard in that there was going to be one, can anyone else confirm they've heard this?

Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!
I hope to Baby Jesus they plant a lot of trees back there. I know they have to make the line and the station, and from todays pictures I know they have the concrete to do. Other than that is it just testing?
Let's Get Weird.
^ I build machines for a living and I can tell you that after the main structure or "main frame" is up the fun has just begun. The amount of plumbing and electrical runs and connections that will happen over the next 70 days would blow your mind!
Then you add in all of the decorations, theming and such and the amount of work is incredible if you look at it just from a manhour view point.
Beeeeehhhhhhh!!!!!

How convenient is it to just run down the road to famous daves or some place with a full bar for lunch and come back?
Very convenient. Famous Dave's is less than a minute from the Marina Gate. TGIFridays is a short walk to Hotel Breakers from either the Beach or Resort gates.
As for what's left to do on the ride, the previous posters are right. There's got to be a lot of systems that need installed and implemented before anything else happens.

But no trees. Cedar Point doesn't have trees.

I was just thinking about trees actually. When this ride opens, it's probably going to feel very industrial...like you're on out-of-place boat stuck in a metal scrap yard.
Can't wait to see how they make this look presentable for opening... Probably going to be awhile before it's a rapids adventure through a lush forest like in the animation...
Might add to an underwhelming feeling at first...
At this point, don't bother looking to the animation for any idea what the scenery is going to look like in the end. Construction takes a toll on the surrounding land and it would take A LOT to get the area looking woodsy and rustic again. Though I will say that Mavericks area turned out nicely with it's "theme". Count on STR's area to turn out like Grand Rapids at MiAdv.;)

Depends how much money they budgeted for scenery. I've watched Disney transform barren land around Expedition Everest (due to construction) into lush scenery in a month or less. Trees, bushes, sod - you name it - can all be brought in. Its just a matter of money.

A very good point....especially considering that we now have 2 buildings, and an employee bridge that were not part of those animations.
Nick
I'm sure there's big differences in what the animator gets to see in terms of blue prints in order to make the animations. So it's safe to say they get enough to create the jist of what the area is going to look like with the addition of the new ride. Beyond that, electrical/plumbing buildings, exact station designs and themeing are limited to "Ok, here's the specs of what we plan on building and the look we are going for."

^^ Ha Ha. Cedar point doesn't have trees. CEDAR point.........:)
Does anyone know what the cedar point peninsula started out as?:)
