Anyone else SLIGHTLY dissapointed in STR?

I am SLIGHTLY dissapointed in STR. I think by venturing and expanding to the island
it could have been much better than what is being done. I thought for sure a GCI
woody or even a spinning coaster were coming to CP on Millenium Island. I was EXTREMELY
dissapointed when I found out that this will be another "get soaked" water ride. When I
saw the details, I was dissapointed with them. I mean the difference in lift hills from
SRF and STR is 3 feet. I could not help wonder if this ride was meant for one of the other
CF parks and just redesigned for CP since it was said that the CF waited a year to announce
it due to the economy. Something does not sound right...

Yeah, let's not even ride the damn thing before passing judgment. That would make too much sense.

Weren't people 'devastated' to find out Maverick was only 105 ft. tall? Now it's one of the park favorites on almost everyones list.

Give it a chance man!

No. In fact, given the fact that we now have a daughter and have entered the family demographic, I'm actually very excited for this addition. Even sans daughter, however, I would still be excited. The Frontier portion of the park has gotten a complete (and IMO much needed) face-lift this past decade, and I think it is a much more well-rounded park because of the changes. It was disheartening to see WWL leave the park, but this more than makes up for it.

I'm especially interested to see what "little touches" they thrown in around the ride. Is anything going to be hidden inside that tunnel?

Promoter of fog.

Looking forward to riding it, but not wild about the "soak factor". We'll

probably do it once just to check it out. We're too old to be comfortable

walking around saturated all day.

^ I agree.

I would be a lot more excited about this ride if you were not going to get so wet. If I wanted to get soaked, I could ride srf or tc.

Also, any news on the height restriction yet?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Am I the only person who's heard CP mention several times that they intend to make the "soak factor" adjustable?

Brandon

I don't think it is that easy as I thought the soak factor was adjustable based on weather. While some, myself included, don't mind getting soaked if it is warm I think there is another group of people who don't want to get soaked no matter how warm it is. I just don't see a lot of older people wanting to get soaked.

^^I don't know about you but when i go on a water ride, i don't like to get really wet. Even if it is 87 degrees out, not everyone want to make a change of clothing to go on water rides. I liked WWL because it was enough wetness to cool me down. I really wish they would have put something in like Wild Thornberry's River Adventure at Kings Island. I am going to try STR though, even though ti will be to wet for me.

Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc

^^
Actually, the soak factor is based on how they turn the valve, not the weather. (Unless they have electronic controls, then it would be based on how they set the controls, not the weather.)

I think the point was that how they turn the valve will depend on the weather.

Brandon

I am a little bummed about this ride. Not because it isn't a roller coaster, but rather because its going to get me soaked when I don't want to be. I'm not about getting soaked at the park and since wetness will be based on weather, I have to either ride early or late in the season.

WWL was sooo much better on many different levels. No soaking, a lengthy ride at a lofty height etc...

I'm sure this ride will have a high fun factor, but being soaked is going to keep me out of the boat until the wetness gets toned down.

No one knows exactly how wet anyone will get on this ride. I think you will get wetter on this than you did on WWL, but not near as wet as you do on SRF.

I am disappointed with the fact that

A: It is not built yet.

B: The park is not open yet

and

C: I have not ridden it yet.

That is all...

I have to agree with Sealedseven on

A, B, and C

And D

How can anyone be disappointed if you have not ridden it yet anyways?

I am excited to ride

I'll reserve judgment until after I actually ride the thing. The ride its self and the proposed theming looks to be pretty good. That being said, you can count me in as one of those people that don't like the idea of getting soaked, so the level of wetness will be the deciding factor as to how often I ride it.

Kevinj - inside the tunnel will be some fog nozzles. But make sure you ride it in the first few weeks, because they will be turned off shortly thereafter.

The coaster boom ended a long time ago. The industry in general focused so much on coasters for so long, very few rides were built to cater other audiences. Seems like things are starting to level out and go in the right direction as far as new ride construction. And for getting completely soaked on STR, I believe that feature will be controlled.

I'm with this guy, but how can anyone plan to ride it in the beginning of the year? it dose not get that warm until at least late June, Yeah we all know they say"they can control the wetness factor" but as i watched an interview about the ride they said"you will get wet".
So you can knock what you haven't tried, the one guy was right about Maverick yeah it is only 105 but if you look at it-it has part of the hill as the turns and then they make up for the lift height by launching you 70 MPH but i was disappointed they had to remove the heart-line spin and as low as it was that was a real thrill, but it is a cool ride(track layout wise).
but a lot of people are not going to want to ride it cause it will get you soaked! unless it is like 90 out!
But each to his own i guess..........

Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!
