The best stuff on MF Island can only be seen from MF. I don't feel like jeopardizing my $300 camera to show you what's there. Go look for your self and then form an opinion. Besides, I'm not concerned with what the PVC pipes are for, or whether the piles of dirt are for landscaping. I'm a non-discriminatory photographer. I'm taking the pictures for those who can't make it to the PO!NT themselves. I didn't title my web site "Construction Photos for the New Mega Coaster"

Jason,
I've seen some of that "stuff" on the island before. I was curious as to what it was, too. It seems to be a boneyard. Some of those parts appeared to be skyride gondolas. They were a light blue color.As far as the jeep in the photo. My guess it's used for driving around the island for MF inspections. I never noticed that before. I'll be going there next weekend. I'll have to do some investigating, as well.
Good pics Jason; I took some of my own and I'll post them in the next two hours or so. Here's waht I saw/noticed today:
-PVC (most likely conduit (sp?)) under the Cedar Creek Mine Ride Exit, as well as a number of packed crates under there as well, but I couldn't tell what was in them as they were wrapped up and some were covered.
-Markings everywhere around Wave Swinger, Between UR Dade and Frontier Inn, In the field between Frontier Inn and WWL, on White Water Landing itself, and around the WWL drop. I've got pics of all these that ill post. There were a number of stakes in the area, they were numbered with such things as SB-1 & SB-5
-Took the train and noticed there was a truck by the Thunder Canyon loading dock that looked like it would be used to drill holes into the ground.
-I didn't get on Millennium today, but around 7pm, I took a ride on Paddlewheel. Not much could be seen when we passed under Millennium Force, but when we went by Mantis and the Lighthouse, and the man trying to fly a bicycle, to the left on the island, there was around 4-5 visible stakes that were orange. They were all within about 15 feet of eachother. It is very possible that there is more, but it was getting dark, and it was a little difficult to see.
I think I've seen that "coaster" sign before. If I remember right, it was similar to the colors, and the one that is on Coaster's restaurant now. Could it possibly be from the "Coasters Midway Grill" that I've been told existed outside of the park, off the peninsula but have never did see? *** Edited 9/18/2005 1:39:17 AM UTC by DBCP***

The Sign that says "Coaster" is what is of most interest to us. One thing that may or may not be noteworthy is that while waiting in line for MF, the Attendant making the announcements specificaly stated something to the effect of, "And as always remember that taking of pictures is not allowed on this ride." He only said it once... not for every train that went through. Probably nothing, but I don't think I ever heard them say it on MF before. Taking a picture on MF would be extreemly difficult even if one were able to get a camera by the belt checkers or out of their pocket after leaving the station.
I was wondering about those "gondolas" i saw several of them. 10-20 maybe. They were all light blue. I can't remember what the name of it was, but were those maybe from the old sky ride back in frontier town.
I only took a picture of the jeep because I could see it. That picture was taken from the Paddlewheel and there was a very limited view from that ride.

Actually, from what I understand, when the Frontier Lift closed, the gondolas from that were put on the Sky Ride, and the Sky Ride gondolas (the light blue ones) were retired to where they are now and where you saw them in the "grave yard."

Ahh... I didn't know that. Thanks for the history lesson.
After reading about the coaster sign I was concentrating on MF island. I'm glad you wern't. Great Pictures. The following legend according to "e x i t english"
* Red - electric power lines, cables, conduit & lighting cables
* Yellow - gas, oil, steam, petroleum & gaseous materials
* Orange - communications, alarm, cable TV, signal lines, cables & conduit
* Blue - potable water
* Green - sewers & drain lines
* Purple - reclaimed water, irrigation & slurry lines
* Pink - temporary survey markers
* White - proposed excavation

Nope. The ones in the grave yard came from Dorney and they are ski-lift style chairs. I think they were rumored to go in Camp Snoopy.
As another Sky Ride? Where would it go?
Has anyone else looked at DBCP's pics yet? He went all out with the pics today. Kudo's. It's motivated me to want to go again tomorrow. :)

I wouldn't get too excited about all the things we see in the boneyard unless it has lettering on it from B&M in huge crates. Another thing to look for would be if we see stuff come in from Huss. It's hard to believe this topic has made it 4 months straight and we are on page 51.
The pictures in my signature were taken over the last year and a half, and are some of my favorites. I have a couple thousand more I have taken but have never put them on the web.
Anyways, back on topic....
CoasterRider - Do you mean that they are open on one side of them?
Here are the pictures I took today of the markings around CCMR, Wave Swinger, Frontier Inn, and WWL. Most the the pictures are in a series, there is a closeup or two, and then a wide shot so you know the exact area.

I wish I could have taken a few pictures of the stakes I saw on MF Island from Paddlewheel, but it was to dark to even make an attempt.

A couple of those shots look like someone spray painted blue paint in a soccer field because you don't know where exactly that grass is. One of those pictures looks like there was a marking around Snake River Falls. Can you tell me if they are or not DBCB?

Like I said before, there is a closeup, and then the next picture or two should be a wideshot of the area where that marker is located (for the most part). Can you post the link to the specific pictures you are referring to? None of the pictures in that album are of the stake by the entrance to Snake River Falls, the stake pictures in that album were of stakes located by Wave Swinger, and right in front of WWL. Those two new stakes can be seen here:

You really made the rounds today DBCP. Great Job. Does that website cost anything? How much bandwidth do you get?

Where exactly is that second picture from? I know its near Wave Swinger, but is it also near the Cadilac Cars as well?

Behind the popcorn/soda carriage, right before the snake river falls/pond bridge, where the exit for the swans used to be.
Jason - For the free acount, you get unlimited albums, no file size limitations, unlimited storage, and as far as know, unlimited bandwith (I've never had it tell me that I've exceeded it). It's the best photo hosting site I could find. *** Edited 9/18/2005 4:15:35 AM UTC by DBCP***

Just got back from the park... the sign in question seems to be a logo of Coasters restaurant. Perhaps from the old Coasters across from the McDonalds (now East of Chicago)?
I found this picture the most interesting.

Hmmm, more excavation stakes and now little flags and a lot of markers around WWL...has anyone heard anything about markings on the trail near the cabins? I have, but I didn't get a chance to check the report out on Labor Day, and I don't think I'll get back up for Halloweekends.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
In one of Jason Hammond's pics is the gondola. I wouldn't get too excited about that. Check out OnPoint then. Same exact one they used to check Raptor. I'm sure the gondola is always at CP during the season. I may be wrong though.
I just got back from CP and after going on MF 3 times between 9am and 10am. I completly agree about the sign. It doesn't say Coaster it says Coasters with the bottom of the C extending under the rest of the work just like the Coasters Grill over by Iron Dragon. I have more pics that I will be posting shortly.
After chatting with DBCP and viewing his shots from yesterday I did my own investigation of the areas he mentioned. I'm sure it's been said before, but to me this looks like they are marking the existing utilities so they don't hit them during excavation. The yellow marks were lined up with the incoming gas lines to different buildings. The blue marks all seemed to be near Hose bibs, water meters, water valves, etc. The Orange markings seemed to be lined up with sewers.
DBCP said there were marks all around Wave Swinger, but I only saw them on the SRF side of the ride. I saw the markings everywhere else he stated. I too took a trip on the train and saw about a half a dozen Blue flags on the gravel road running behind WWL. I also got a couple good shots of the Truck with the Drills.
DBCP said he saw some steaks on Paddlewheel on the left just past the guy trying to fly a bike. He said it was to dark to get a shot, I got a couple today.
Overall the weather was much beter for taking pictures today.
I was at CP last week looking all around WWL and none of this was there. They did a lot in one week. I will definatly go back next week to do a follow up survey.
