So, Colleen and Bill basically switched, right?

That's the impression I got.

Fill free to explain :)

I do not believe that Bill will be running Wildwater Kingdom . From what I understand, Wildwater kingdom will be ran as a department of cedar point.

What do you mean? WWK is already a cedar fair park though.

From what I understand, Bill is back at WWK, and 2 people took replaced him at Cedar Point. It's kind of bittersweet since Bill is a great guy and has a passion for the business. But not seeing him at Cedar Point anymore kind of sucks.

Colleen and Bill are also secretly MARRIED. OMG.

haha They are not. That would be interesting, though. That means that we will get a secret blog about their little things they do together.

Wildwater kingdom was it's own business with a full crew of managers. Now it just has one overall manager. Bill would be the department manager and the other managers around cedar point will have some added responsibility. Wildwater kingdom is no longer a stand alone park. I guess a better way of saying it is that it id the eastern park of Soak city, just a long walk away.

I wonder if this means anything for WWK, good or bad.

Last time Bill was at Geauga Lake, it only operated for 4 seasons then closed. However I look at it this way, if they are moving people around from location to location, maybe it's a good thing that Bill is back in Aurora. He has a lot of experience and love for the business. WWK clearly isn't nearly as big as Cedar Point, so maybe he's being moved over there to further his ideas and manage the place with good intentions in mind. The fate of WWK is unknown because I will say though, this past summer, WWK had a very decent crowd the couple times we went. But, the last time a new attraction was added was when the entire property operated as an amusement and water park.

Every time I go, the park is very crowded. I would love to see parts of Phase 2 to be built. Especially the water slides.

Similar to Michigan's adventure, if the attendance/profit is growing on it's own, where is the incentive to add anything? That being said, a nice new attraction would make me feel a bit better about the future of the park.

Phase 2 looks amazing! I would love it if they finished what they started! Along with a nice swim up bar! They definitely need one. Preferably one that is nicer than Bubbles at Soak City...But, only one can dream.

phase 2 for wildwater, I assume?

Unless they take the Soak City route with WWK. As in, don't make any major investments in new attractions until the numbers start to drop.

I don't totally understand that approach. Only because Cedar Fair has never tested out the capability of expansion with this waterpark and attendance. What if CF decides to allocate 2-3 million for a new water slide complex for next year... Next season, attendance goes up 10% or more... The following season, that number stays consistent. They will see expansion will draw in more people and increase the profitability of the park.

On the other side, it could go the other way. They add an attraction and attendance stays flat. Well at least they tried...

Look at Holiday World though... Out in the middle of nowhere and the largest draw is that waterpark. They add to it every single year basically. There is no reason WWK can not be the same, especially in the area it is in. It just needs proper expansion and management to do it right.

I just think they need to give the park a chance. Give it some money, allow it to test the waters a bit. If it fails, so be it. But what if it is greatly successful? You have plenty of land to expand into a hugely successful regional waterpark. It already seems to be quite successful as is, the place is always generally very busy. We went probably 20 times this season and never once did I think to myself that the park would ever be in 'trouble'. The crowds are great, the park is clean and the staff is excellent. It has all it needs to expand properly.

They won't know until they try... I know they are scared/worried by the whole ride-side fiasco, but that was just poorly done way too fast. Slides are pocket change compared to the capital invested in the B&M coasters lately at other parks. They just need to show the people that they still care about this great water park... You would be surprised how many times over the season you hear other people talking that they would love a few more slides or something else to do. Something that can be done very easily.

They closed the whole thing prematurely.. They should've just kept downsizing the rides in stead of completely closing the rides. Atleast the happy harbor area and old 3D show wouldn't have been hard to continue to operate at GL...
