A couple things stick out to me from the POV video:
1. I don't really like having only one element before the mid course break run, it just seems to go very quickly.
2. This basically confirms no tunnel or splash element, which is a shame.
3. No silver/grey paint on the bottom of the track, so it'll be just orange/brown and blue, and I for one think the color scheme, although not optimal given the name, looks pretty good.
4. NoLimits 2 has fantastic physics, so I think it's fair to judge this based on the video: It looks like the coaster will be navigating the elements at an decent speed to give it some force. The airtime hill near the end looks like it could actually have some nice pop similar to Maverick's second one, which is always a welcome thing especially after Gatekeeper's camelback was basically airtime-less. (In my opinion the main ride missing in Cedar Point's coaster arsenal is a coaster with a ton of airtime hills. I know I know, we have Magnum and Blue Streak, but I'm looking for some nice parabolic curves with comfortable floater airtime, something that RMC does a fantastic job of [cough cough Mean Streak's future please]).
I can address #2. With the high water table around the point, a underground tunnel would be extremely hard to build. Unless they wanted to install pumps, it may be difficult to keep dry.

An above ground terraformed tunnel would be awesome though.
True...but with CP history of themeing it would probably be a letdown.
That POV video posted a couple of pages back is not the official video. So there may actually be elements in the official video that aren't shown in the enthusiast's animation.

two* coasters double leak in a row now!? Published memo then a breach of website/app.
I hope to see this on the list of records that this coaster will break 😉

A friend of mine in Cincinnati got gold passes for the first time this year and was shocked how much we paid for our platinum.
See how that Gold Pass works for her here up at CP. Snark aside, you can't compare the two.
Although I understand that it would be nice to have the Gold option, especially for those who only go to CP, I view the Platinum as a season pass to multiple parks with FREE parking and ert. It's a great value to someone like me.
I'm not "upset" at the park for adding a dive coaster. I understand the park does research for their capital, however they're asking the wrong people. They interview people who are already in the park and ask them what they want to see. Obviously they want more of the same. They need to go outside the park into their marketable regions and ask people what would make them visit the park--- I'm sure they'd get drastically different answers.
Look- I care about the park, I'm not "upset" they are building a dive coaster. I just feel they missed the mark on this one. It's a model that's over ten years old, and it's just more of the same. I'm hoping there's some tunnels and light theming to at least make the area feel more immersive- Sheikra does a great job at that.
My biggest challenge is trying to understand why this addition is happening after multiple interviews from the executive team state they're moving focus to more family friendly attractions.
So what you want them to add is what they should add? You think they should've asked you what you want? And you being about 1,000 miles away probably isn't their "marketable region". The park can't cater to everyone. Everyone on this site probably doesn't even account for 1% of their yearly visitors. This is just one addition out of many that will likely occur over the next several years. Maybe the next few years will focus on family friendly attractions, and it's pretty much all but confirmed that a dark ride will be coming one of these days. I think everyone should withhold judgment until the actual announcement is made.

And where might one find that in its entirety? All references I've ever seen are to a Sandusky Register article where they claim to have received a "memo" between CP and B&M, with not even so much as a direct quote.
Not to mention that memo was wrong about several details. It's still a possibility that it was truly a proposal though, but Cedar Point just chose a different one, possibly to leave enough room for a flat ride of some kind and a blue streak midway revamp.
The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.

They're listening, you just need to be patient. You also need to remember that what is coming next year was set in motion years ago (I'm sure you know that, but not all here keep that in mind when we dissect new additions). For all we know, this project has been in the works for up to 5 years, and perhaps pre-dates Ouimet; at least in its genesis.
I also disagree with the idea that because this "type" is over ten years old that it's not new, relevant, or important in terms of what Cedar Point needs. This perspective is part of enthusiast tunnel-vision. To many, many, and dare I say the majority of visitors, a dive-coaster is something they have never witnessed before in person much less rode. There are two...two in the United States. Two. I don't care is it was conceptualized 25 years ago, that makes it unique to our region and unique to what coaster-lovers would get excited about.
I think the unfortunate disservice this leak has done it that it is coloring (some) people's perceptions of the ride in a very bizarre light. The POV video that is out there looks like something from a Super Nintendo (I get it, it's for a phone). Yes, the cat is out of the bag, but what you can't take away from that is the aesthetic sense of awe and appeal this ride will bring. I have complete, and not misplaced, faith that this installation is going to provide a dramatic and powerful presence in its location.
I originally came on to chime in on what Mike (Ensign) said, as I am one of the loudest spokesman for the fact that Cedar Point "needs" more family-friendly rides, and yet I am not only thrilled by this installation but my faith in the direction the park is headed has been nothing but bolstered in the past few years, with 2016 as no exception.
More on that later, I guess; if anyone cares. :)
Promoter of fog.
This is clearly just all a diversion.
The REAL announcement is that Danish Folk group Valravn will be performing at the Jack Aldrich Theater every day in 2016.

That would be surprising. Wasn't GateKeeper Ouimet's first move? If that's the case, that suggests two things: first, the decision to install Valravn came after Ouimet came on board, and second, that the company can be extremely nimble when they want to. So even if this were in the works before Ouimet joined CF, they could have easily postponed the project.
Two things bother me about this supposed installation.
Now, this is not to say I won't love the new coaster. I'm sure it will be great. But with an almost-three-year-old, I hesitate more every year with my cursor over the "buy" button when it comes time to purchase our season passes.
I think Tilt-a-Whirl is on to something with regard to who they surveyed when they were looking at future investments. If you're only asking the customer already in the park, you're not growing the business. Maybe they should survey folks down in Bay Lake instead.
Brandon
Maybe this and Gatekeeper was part of a package deal. And just because they add a coaster this year doesn't mean that family friendly additions aren't in the future. A dark ride is all but confirmed for the future. With the Breakers renovation and more focus on the beach, management is addressing the issues, they can't do it all overnight. I feel the best way to voice your opinion is to vote with your wallet. If you're not happy with the direction the park is taking, then spend your entertainment dollars elsewhere.

As I recall upon the announcement of Gatekeeper, they said this was just the start of more things to come... so they probably had envisioned this dive coaster at that time as well.
Not disappointed with this ride at all. We now have a huge collection of fantastic coasters. Five that are 200+ feet high, a nice collection of Intamins Impulse, Giga, Terrain, and Strata and now rounding out with people eating B&Ms, floorless, Invert, Wing and now Dive. Plus classic Arrow rides, Gemini and Magnum and two huge flat rides SkyHawk and MaxAir.
New entrances, improved operations, cleanliness, kiddie areas, fastlane, meal plans, refreshments wrist bans, plus future additions of classic flat rides from Europe and who knows what else is in store for 2016 and several years out.
I bet if CP's announcement was a small wildmouse coaster and maybe a few flat rides together, there would be complaining that its been 3 years since a big coaster its way past due. And complaining that this announcement is boring blah blah.
We get a huge Dive coaster in a great location that will have the general public talking and lining up to ride. Not only that it will be a great spectator ride from the midway.
We've been guessing and assuming CP was going to get a Dive Machine for months now, and now that there is a leak of the layout/POV, people are now upset about the rumored addition?
Each park throughout the entire county/world is known for something. Cedar Point just happens to be "The Roller Coaster Capital of the World". Self proclaimed or not, it is what it is. That's what drives a lot of people to the park, especially the GP. I understand the lack of attractions for members of all ages of families to ride, but that hasn't stopped my family to go. (I'm 25, but father is 45 with 2 other children of ages 6 & 9.) Every family is different, but how can we be shocked the park is adding another coaster? I seem to recall a lot of people, more than just this forum, were complaining because the park didn't add a coaster for 6 years between Maverick and GK. You just can't please everyone, and that's okay.
I've got to imagine with the 150th anniversary in 2020, the park has a slew of additions in the coming years to cater all ages.
A gut feeling of mine tells me that there is more in store for 2016 than just Valravn. Especially with the rumored layout of Valravn, there is still plenty of land where GT theatre used to be plus the space Cedar currently occupies. Maybe that will be utilized for 2017+, i don't know. Just a gut feeling.
There's been something bothering me with this "leak" of information. If we have high quality images of the track layout, the logo, and an app to back it all up, why haven't we seen the specific stats? They would surely be included in the app and if people are breaking it down to get these images, we should have stats at our fingertips.
Part of me is holding out hope that this is a very elaborate red herring, akin to what KI did with a fake website "leak" for "The Bat" when Banshee was announced.
The other part of me is sad as if somebody told me that Vader was Luke's father before the movie was over or somebody said "Snake kills Dumbleore" while I was reading the book. Most of the fun is in the chase and it is really depressing when the chase suddenly ends ahead of schedule. Like going on a duck hunt, and the duck has a heart attack and falls from the sky.
No matter what, I am happy the park is expanding their lineup. When do we start discussing where the Dark ride will be built?
They call me Sheehan.

If there were 100 active members here and we each went 50 times a season that would still only be 5,000 visits and not even close to 1% of the 3million+ attendance season.
I have a feeling this will be the last major coaster (excluding a kiddie/family coaster) we see before the parks 150th. I wouldn't be surprised if the next round of additions include family attractions, dark ride, etc.. The desired RMC conversion being the unknown dark horse at the moment. Most of us want it but does the park?
