$3 soda = criminal

The phone (if I remember right) is by the road behind the Camp Office. Its right at the corner of one of the loops for CV and the road back to LHP and the office. Pick it up, it'll auto-dial to the shuttle people and they'll send one out to pick you up.

I hate the fact that the price of things have gone crazy! I miss the days when you could pack a cooler and set it in a park and enjoy your day and affort it! I know we pack a cooler and either eat in the picnic area or in our car!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

Mike, there is also a shuttle stop right along the Ripcord fence closest to the Soak City parking lot. That may be less of a drive. There is a little phone box that allows you to call for a shuttle there.

Back to food prices. I was in the candy shop on Frontier Trail yesterday and saw they raised candy bars from 99 cents to $1.25. I was checking other prices in there and the winner for most ridiculous price is ...and the competition was strong... the winner is... The small bag of Combos usually about $1 elsewhere only $3.69 at CP!!!!!!

It's clearly all about profit margins, which may or may not be what is helping keep Cedar Fair in the black.

Yeah the prices in general for everything are criminal at amusement parks.

And this is a good way to keep there share holders happy to.

I think two of the better values are cheese-on-a-stick, and the blueberry ice cream at KI is $3.81 incld tax...for what you get, that's better pricing than Ritter's or Culver's!

OK I couldn't read this thread, but wanted my chance to vent at the stupidity of $3 pop (not soda!) too. Yes people might buy it for awhile and the park makes more money, but it's one of those things that just makes people mad. Particurally given the current economic situtation (which is going to get a lot worse before it gets better) and the current deflation, it's stupid. The park might make less money on the day the price drops, but over a year or two it will be remembered a lot better for even $2 pop and it won't take that many extra visits to pay for the difference particurally when you consider how people now try to get around it. I know my family rarely buys it any more. We usually use the picnic areas, maybe buying one or two if we're really thirsty (or occasionally sneak a couple cans in). If the price was reasonable, we'd be more willing to buy.

It's more convenient to buy a "pop" inside the park than to run all the way out to one's car. Food prices aren't that bad, I've eaten at Johnny Rocket's and I think it's pretty reasonable. The food is awesome at CP, and tastes great.

It is ridiculous, but it's not just
Cedar Point. And don't platinum pass holders get to bring therimaverick cups back into the park everytime? I heard that from someone

That equation assumes that it results in high per capita guest spending. I keep hearing this year that it's gone the other way. I hope that's really the case.

I can't imagine that per capita spending is up. I haven't been able to make it to a park yet this year, but I expect to see it down everywhere. Last year the economy helped regional parks as people turned away from the bigger desination ones. This year should hurt both types and I have a feeling a lot of people will be trying to go cheaply. Charging $3 for pop just compounds the problems.

Note: Thinking about it some, I usually am going to Cedar Point with 7 people. $3 pop is probably a bigger deal for us than for smaller families.

Do you bring your own food? The food sold at the park is average at best, and down-right terrible at many locations. Its one thing that really needs to get fixed.

Yesterday at Panda Express, the only size drinks they were selling were the very large (I'm guessing 36-40 ounce or so) cups, for $4.99.

We most decidedly opted for the water fountain instead.

A Pack of smokes at the Camper Village store cost NINE DOLLARS! Thats cheaper than New York City or L.A. (the most expensive cities to buy cigarettes). Where they average around $7.65 per pack. Ohio cigarettes are at about $4.55 a pack compared to $5.77 here in Michigan.

I'm not going to complain to Cedar Point directly for their cigarette prices. however, you can still on into Facebook and head to their discussion area to discuss other prices. A post has been made in their forum. I'm fairly certain they are read by someone after witnessing how fast they took down comments yesterday on their main page.

I say tax the hell outta cigarettes, especially if universal health care becomes a reality. Much like they do with alcohol, they should set a minimum of $10/pack, and put the extra money toward health care. :)

Brandon

^Agreed. The higher prices are helping me cut back. But then I go to Sandusky once a week and stock up. So all the effort is a waste.

Yeah, that's why it should be a Federally-regulated minimum (again, only if we get UHC), rather than State-regulated.

And I've saved almost $9,000 since quitting. :)
