2011 Point Perks

Remind me not to ride Corkscrew this season.

This is the definition of apathy, and exactly the attitude that causes a place like Cedar Point to fall below people's expectations.

Lol, fine by me really, I'm unaffected either way. Plus noone reads why I'm here in the first place...ah wow...

In regards to the one guy before Kevin...Sorry, I'll probably end up making more than you because I'll be going into the air force as an officer, and will be working either on Cyber Security Systems, Client Computer Systems, or Aerospace Propulsion for F-16's after getting a 96 on my asvab.....Lol...I like how just because I'm lax with a ride opening late and don't have a reason to care if it does or not because it's just 15 minutes, I get terrible comebacks thrown at me...Lmao...This is starting to get amusing

That you're bragging about scoring a 96 on your ASVAB tells me nearly everything I need to know about you.

The other stuff - like your complete lack of personal pride in your work, or your total disregard for how your attitude impairs your job performance (and no, the type of job doesn't matter - generally, people are either good workers or a crappy ones) tells me the rest.

There's really no need for this to get personal.

Also, a question for TheDevarious: Is this your first job where you'll be dealing directly with guests/customers? This is a sincere question. I've worked enough low-paying customer-facing jobs to know that you've got to pick your battles, and this is not one of them. Also, your attitude towards the guests (too bad, so sad) as someone who is publicly admitting to being an employee is not a good representation of Cedar Point, nor yourself.

These people/families have paid good money to receive a few benefits. They have a valid complaint about the advertised package. And to be completely honest, I don't think any of them are questioning work ethics here, just the marketing of the product they bought.

2011 - Trash Crew

Yeah it's getting very personal here haha. I'm staying out of this one.

EDIT: Actually, I do want to say something: Yeah, ok, I don't agree with TheDevarious by the way he is talking (typing) by saying "They don't know what we go through", especially when he hasn't worked at the park yet, but he came in with the best intentions sticking up for tcgolfer but that blew up in his face. Can anybody tell me how that happened? And by the way, how you act in a message board doesn't reflect how you act in person. If that were the case for some of you, I don't know how you would have a decent social life by always getting off topic with some of the non sense I see on here!

You're there to serve the customer and make sure they have a great and safe day during their vacation. They are choosing to spend their discretionary money at the park. There is no excuse to be standoffish, rude, or otherwise a poor host.

I worked in a call center for 5 years, and understand how wrong, rude and irritating people can be. At the end of the day, their cash was paying my salary.

I completely agree bholcomb! Even though I get irritated with people sometimes, I look at it the same way you do.

I'm just waiting for somebody to come along and say that their hourly wage from dealing with guests at Cedar Point doesn't compare to the salary earned at a call center. It's going to be my first season working at Cedar Point, so I'll let you know if they are comparable at the end of the season as I have worked at a call center too.

Lmao, this is actually pretty funny. If you would read my posts completely and understand them, I AM excited to work there, this is going to be fun for me. Plus what we get out of it perk wise is nice. Only complaint is the wages for what we actually go through for what we actually go through (this being a good example). If we even got overtime I would be happy enough but alas, Ohio ruins that for us. Secondly, how does my attitude towards whiny platinum passholders complaining about a 15 minute wait have to do anything towards my job. I'm a ride op, I tell you how to get on, prepare, check, and dispatch the train, that's it. Besides, half of the time, you just put on a show for the guests. It's not hard to act perfect in front of guests when you're on duty. Right now, I'm not on duty so it doesn't matter. Another good thing to point out is a hiring manager looked over my information, interviewed me, and thought I did good enough to get the job. So that means that I passed his expectations of a CP employee good enough. Also for those who attended the off season tour, Bryan even stated now they hire usually now every one out of ten they interview...

Also I've been working with Subway for several years and left with being promoted as the first assistant manager. On top of it I worked at a computer repair firm for a year, but the owner's business spending/ect drove that into the ground...yay...However, my subway store is located within the local university campus, so it's shut down over the summer, hence the summer job. Also, being with subway for three years, it grows old on you, especially when you're certified all over for computers & that's your calling. So this is a nice new change.

I'm just going to end this here with this kid and say a few last words. How I act outside of work is a whatever, it doesn't matter. Just because I think people complain too much about a ride not opening at 9 because of issues or whatever, it's sad. Regardless, everyone has a different attitude, just because I choose to speak up and call people out on this matter doesn't have anything to do with my work ethic or anything. Just because I display little regard for a guest in one situation means nothing. If anything even my managers/sups have said several times, that my work ethic on the job (on duty btw lmao) is exceptional. I have never called off, always there 10 min before my shift, and I pick up hours and tasks where needed constantly. My last week before I put in my L.O.A. I pulled in a 66 hour work week because we ended up being short staffed. Plus being the F.A.M. for the 3rd busiest store in the US alone, and the #1 store in my franchise, must explain that I'm doing something right...

Regardless think what you want, who cares. You won't probably notice me if you get on the ride, you probably won't even remember this on the platform. If you do actually that's kinda creeper-ish but oh well. Lol, as you can tell though, it doesn't matter to me. I am who I am, and it's whatever....Ah well, let people think what they want, and make their accusations, ect...This doesn't really matter to be honest. It was a pretty good laugh though not ganna lie

So now that we have your life story, of which no one cares, how about we get back on topic...

Wow... Congratulations on that. I scored an 87. Don't worry about Dj saying anything about your score. It tells him nothing and you don't have to explain yourself to a scrub like him. He wouldn't survive week one in basic and that attitude would earn him a trip to the brig or back home to daddy if he didn't wash out the first day his mama wasn't there to back him up. I'm a Marine and one thing I learned in the corp is civilians will never understand what it means to score high and give up their soft life of luxury for 4 years in hell. Even if he has had every job on the planet that makes him an expert in everything.

I wish you the best in the service. Even if you are a hooch for the air force. ;)

Haha hey thanks man..I wanted to go with the Marines, but they didn't have too many careers focusing on what I wanted so I went with the chair force :D...A/C in the dorms is where it's at!!! Hahahah

So what all are ya in for & how long man?

I thank you both for your service or future service to this country. That said, I honestly think you guys are crazy and egotistical. There is no need to insult Dj on pointing out simple facts. Cedar Point is a business, and is just like every other business out there. If your favorite coffee place says it will open at 9 A.M. and you get there at 9 and it doesn't open for another 20 minutes, how are you going to respond? If the employees come out and say they work so hard and have low pay is that going to make you ok with the fact that it opened 20 minutes later than scheduled? No. It is the same way at CP. (Except its even worse because park guests already paid for it.)

I don't understand why you guys think you have the right to jump all over people when all they are asking is what they paid for.

Let's Get Weird.

Lol this is getting better I think haha

Actually truth be told, when I went down to Kings Island opening day, when we got off of the highway, we decided to stop at that T-Bell outside of the park there. We got there at like right at 9:00 as planned, and they opened at 9:00...We went to the doors, they weren't open. We literally just said, ok lets wait a bit, they'll open, we're here right at 9:00 anyways, they probably don't open till then. Sure enough, I think we saw that it was at or around 9:10, something like that, we saw someone go open the front door & the lights for the drive thru turn on. It's ok if something isn't on time every time, it's a whatever. Things happen, and they're out of your control and besides, it may be an inconvenience but you learn to live through it & work past it. I'm not ganna flip **** & complain that they didn't open right when we pulled in right at 9:00...They apparently had **** to do before they opened their doors, who knows maybe food wasn't ready, cash needed counted, ect....it's no big deal lols...I have more important things to worry and complain about than if a ride opens at 9, or for instance, a T-Bell :D

The thing is, you didn't pay extra for your food to be on time. People pay extra for the Platinum Pass or to stay in the resorts so they can ride their favorite rides before opening. When they don't get what they paid for then its a problem.

By the way, sentences end with one period, there are things called "paragraphs" that can make posts easier to read and understand, and putting **** does not make you look cool or sound intelegent. It just makes you look like a moron.

Let's Get Weird.

Actually, the website automatically adds those to censor words, I don't put them in hahahahhahahah....Wow...Everyone is so jumpy and argumentative...this place is starting to remind me of 4Chan....Might as well start posting this with everything guys. Also sorry my grammar doesn't meat an English teacher's priorities. I wasn't aware that I needed to conform to these standards on a forum board. Also if you notice, there are a few periods & whatnot out there. Plus if you look at some other posts, for the most part, I do alot better than most where they don't use any punctuation at all, or talk in l33t, all caps, ect...

Next fail attempt at a troll?

Priceless.

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

Anyone else hungry?

4 summers of employment in ride operations does stuff to you.

Lol I actually just noticed this...Ugh this is what happens when you use google voice on your Evo instead of typing responses...Epic fail on my part xD

Ok, time for my two cents. Every time I ride MF for early entry, it is always running with guests on it by the time I get there. I use the resort gate and sprint there(Fat Person Sprints) BTW they don't let you in the park UNTIL 9.

Iron Dragon is RIGHT there if it's not ready by the way.....

^Thank you, now I def. don't feel alone hahaha
