2008 Pay Scale

And here I though college was about getting an education.

It is telling that most colleges these days have "dorms" that put CP employee accommodations to shame. I understand economics enough to know CP can't really beat/match what the colleges are doing...but heck, they aren't even making an effort. On the contrary, it is like they are saying..."here is what we've got; take it or leave it."

It seems they are leaving it more and more each year.

I know of a few people from over the years that upon arriving and seeing where they were living, turned right around and went back home.

While I think that might be a little extreme, I do believe something needs to be done about housing.

That isn't extreme and those stories are accurate. I had a situation like that happen where I hire 4 gals that knew each other. They got to their rooms in the Gold Dorms (which I am sure are no better now than they were 15 years ago) and they came to my office to tell me they were going home. Now, perhaps the rides department could handle losing 4 qualified folks but I could not.

So, I made some special arrangements to get them a dorm room in the Breakers...rooms that weren't a heck of a lot better...but it was enough to get them to stay.

I'm here to tell you; the kids walk in, turn around and walk out stories most certainly continue.

When I was on Raptor in 00+01 base pay was $6.25/hr, and bonus pay was $1 per hour, an average employee worked between 900 and 1500 hours in a season? I worked 900 the first year, and 1100 the second, and I was quite happy with my bonus! The base pay really wasn't bad AT THE TIME, but it is almost seven years later....?

To answer your question......Cedar Point used to be the only game around Sandusky, now we have a lot more to choose from and higher paying jobs at that. Also, many perks have been taken away from the employees...........let's just call them budget cuts. Why work there when you can have better hours and more pay at another job? The work environment isn't fun anymore.......they even took that away.

BOYCOTT THE SEASONAL BONUS by not working there this year. Let them think about that for a year.

^They will just fill your job with a kid from overseas who will be happy to take it.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And some of them were a lot better employees than some of the randoms this summer.

What do people know about jobs at the new Hard Rock Park in SC?

Someone posted abot it here.

That they pay more, have a more lax dress code, and no housing. That's about it.

They are getting housing.

If it's done by the time they open... it should be all of the quality of Cedar Point's.

I was told by someone who is already working there fulltime that they have the go ahead to put employees into some nice condos at a reasonable rate. She did not tell me what the rate was though and she did not know how many people per condo.

I've always envisioned Cedar Point Apartments to look like that... only without the automatic door. ;)

Great pic Gomez. Do you have any pictures of the actual rooms though?

DOH!

I didn't feel this warranted a new thread... but, I stumbled across this on the Pay & Benefits portion of the Cedar Point website....

All bonus checks will be distributed mid-November.

This is different than in the past, when you would get your bonus as soon as all of your processing out paperwork had been processed andthey could process the check. Seems like they want to hold onto the money a little longer. Anyways, just thought I'd share.

I agree that untill you work at cp for an entire summer you have no idea how much we deserve that 1 per hour. dont get me wrong I love my job but i also work 85 hours a week and deserve every penny. I get cussed at, spit on, and yelled at everyday and through i am nice and smile and I am understanding about every situation everyday doing it the cedar point way! so yes every employee who works at cp deserves that bonus. not the .35

how much do police officers and/or security make?

Im just a tid bit disappointed in the pay this summer...but when you really look at it...its the same as last season...ACK!
