2007 New Employees

I could be totally wrong, but I'm under the impression there is wireless access available in the rec center.
Even if that's not true, the rec center does have computers for employees to use to access the internet.

Are the computers usually full or would it be easy to get on at least like 20 minutes a week to write a few emails?

Yes, the computers are usually full, but the longest I ever had to wait for a computer was 40-45 minutes. There are 5 or 6 computers, and each computer has a time limit for how long you can be on it. However, most people don't follow those rules. When I worked there, they actually put timers at each station, and when you sat down you had to set the timer for 15 minutes. It's kind of a self-monitoring system. What a lot of people do is wake up early, and be the first in line for when rece center opens. Also, I know there used to be 2 pay-as you go internet systems in the housing office/store over in Commons. I'm not sure if they are still there. I think it something like 1 dollar for 8 minutes or 5 dollars for an hours. (something like that). I usually used those computers just so I didn't have to wait in line to use the ones in the rec center.

I'm too sexy for my harness!

Im just wondering about the Cedars Dorms. About how big are the lockers???

I've never stayed in Cedars, but according to the website, Cedars uses dressers, not lockers. I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but it does sound like you might not be able to lock up your valuables.

Yeah yeah yeah! Come cross train at Mantis! haha...usually if people receive operationals on Mantis they get moved to Kiddy Kingdom, so we usually get someone from them for an equal trade. As long as you work hard, and have fun doing it, you will have a great summer!

As much fun as work can be...returners ultimately come back for the people :)

I have a question. Say you choose to live in the commons dorms, which are like, what 31.20 per week, and you want to switch to the Bayside Apartments or something, does anybody know if you can do that? cuz im not sure which one I want and I am wondering if I can switch if I make a decision that I wish I didnt.

Also, I saw something somewhere about discount tickets. Does that mean that I could buy tickets for my family, and how much of a discount is that???

please and thank you!

you can switch if theres an opening. good luck getting into bayside though - its mostly castaway people. the discount tickets are the same price that meijer sells them for.

I was hired in Live Entertainment as a backstage tech. Are there any other techies out there?

Hey i just got hired into ride operations.

it is going to be a great summer!

As far as internet access... when I was last there (gasp.. 3 summers ago). They had an employee in the Rec Center who monitored the time... not each person setting timers... Is this still the case?

Also... can you still get the Italian Sub, slow toasted through the oven, and the Oreo Shake?... that used to be my favorite meal to get at the Rec Center.

Hi all, i just got hired onto Magnum yesterday, & i was wondering how the training & processing in worked...they explained it & all in the online thing they sent me, but i'm confused...also, do we have 2 buy our own uniforms, or do they provide them for us? please & thank you!

You get there - and they always tell you what you have to do next - and lots of people around to help you out. Don't worry about it, it's easy. Oh, and hopefully you'll love Magnum - your team leader, Andrea, is awesome (I hope you like fast paced work, high stress, and the occasional sprint!)

I processed in today, and it took maybe 40 minutes to finish.

Sounds like you got in pretty quickly.... If you get there on one of the big process-in days, you may wait longer than that just at the HR Office.

At least that's how it used to be...

[url][url]The Captain is here for his first time at CP. I have been assigned over at CJ's Provisions and really look forward to this. I was thinking about the commons appartments for housing but I had a question. Can I process and move in the day before my actual date which is May 6th. Go ahead and email and IM me if you want and I will respond quickly (I have nothing better to do).

I can't believe people are already starting to process in. Only 10 days until I'll be there! I'm starting to get really nervous.

Also, I was contacted by my supervisor and told I had a room in Bayside reserved for me (since I'm an Office Clerk). I had kind of planned on living in the Commons Dorms because of the A/C and fewer people. He said my apartment would only have 6 people though and be supervisors, TL, and office clerks. What do you guys suggest I do?

So when does everyone else process in? *** Edited 5/1/2007 1:03:21 AM UTC by Dani***

I don't think they can make you live in Bayside...you could just tell them you would rather stay in Commons. It's your choice. Personally, I think that's kind of strange that they reserved a special spot for you. No offense at all, but I wonder what is so different about office clerks that they get a bed reserved for them? You're a first year just like all the other first years. Personally, I would much rather live with other first years rather than a group of supervisors and team leaders. My first year I was in Bayside, (it was the only building open when I arrived) and all of my roommates were supervisors. It was not fun. Some had a real sense of entitlement and superiority, and didn't really relate to me at all because I guess they couldn't remember what it was like to be new.

If you really want to stay in Commons, then just tell your supervisor that. They can't stop you.

Yeah, he said it was fine if I wanted to stay in Commons, but just that I had a spot in Bayside if I wanted. I had the same thoughts on living with team leaders and what not. I figured the Dorms would be better for meeting more people like me.
