Fear Faire is much better this year than in the past, so if you've skipped it before, I recommend checking it out again. I'm happy to see everyone else seems to enjoy the changes to Terror Island as much as I do.
Also, the Screamsters arrive at the Overlord between 7:35-7:40 every night. When the zones start opening on Sundays (Columbus day weekend through Halloween) the Sunday Overlord ceremony will be at 6:35.
What a great start to Halloweekends. Friday had a good crowd for a Friday. Saturday was packed. We arrived about 3pm and had to park on the grass across the road from the Cedar Point Road parking booth. I imagine the boat show and concert took up some of the parking. Great weather. The crowd large as it was, did not rival that crazy day about 6-7 years ago.
The sceamsters were in good form right from the start. Last year they were pretty lame the first weekend, not so this year. I'm sure they'll get even better.
Dr. Demented's Asylum was very good. I thought the first part was not anything special. It got much, much better as it went along. I would rate it my favorite haunted house after one time through.
Both Eerie Estate and Happy Jacks had more going on than last year. More people jumping out etc. Club Blood seemed the same to me.
The outside walked throughs were great. The fog was thick. Saturday's big crowd made for some good scaring. Terror Island was partially redone for the better. It was awesome. Much more going on there. They paved the cinder path with asphalt making the walk much more comfortable. Fear Faire was redone for the better too. Seemed they managed to jam more into the space by tighting thing up a bit. Fright Zone and Carn Evil didn't change. I didn't go to Cornstalkers
Halloween Hullabaloo was similar to last year. It's OK. That was the only show I saw.
They weren't selling the corn on the cob this weekend. Hopefully they will next weekend. It's old location is now a smoking area. Speaking of such, is looks like the area outside the restrooms next to Scrambler has become an unofficial one. Saturday while waiting there I saw about 8 to 10 people smoking along the Scrambler fence.
BTW, Shoot the Rapids was open Saturday. They closed it a little after 7pm for Fright Zone.
Great start.
A sad note from the news in Cleveland. A 16 year old St. Iganatius student that had been at CP Friday was killed in a car crash the next morning after spending the night at a friends home. Sad to think that someone who was at CP having a good time is no longer with us. Poor kid never made it home. Prayers go out to his family and friends.
Even though I went through Happy Jacks last year, it was still awesome this year. I didn't much care for Dr. D's. There was a lot of stacking and it felt like an extended queue.
I like the walk through zones almost as much as the haunted "houses".
I loved the shows too. Sideshow was better than Hullabaloo, IMO.
So much left to see/do still for the next trip!
after going through the houses yesterday I gotta say Happy Jack's is where it was at, the crew working there was tired, but still getting fantastic scares and giving a ton of effort both times I went through. I wasn't impressed with the asylum, it seems like undertaker part two, where they just changed up some props, or in one case broke continuity all together by having the old crypt tunnel that rocks back and forth and doesnt fit the theme at all. The detail was lacking, especially compared to the new houses from last year, and the actors were alright. some weak ones, some strong ones, but the majority seemed to timid/tired and didn't have enough of the I'm gonna kill you crazy and played the more, i'm gonna rock in the corner and mutter to myself crazy.
for a first weekend I thought a lot of things went really really well, I think we had our problems too though. and once people recover from getting hit by a crowd that big on saturday this early into the season, it will get even better as the new folk come into their characters.

S.T.A. - died with the Fright Zone
I was there Friday. Despite the 30 minute wait for Dr. D's, it was my favorite house. It was sooooooo good. The last guy you see before you exit just made it outstanding. If he is on this forum, you are amazing.
I went through Happy Jack's for the first time. It didn't really do anything for me. Maybe I just went at a bad time, but there was a ton of time in between each scare. Most of it is walking around looking at naked barbies.
Fright Zone ties with Terror Island for my favorite outdoor place. Fright Zone's sliders is what makes it for me. They always are cool. Terror Island's guy on the bungee things are also cool.
Overall it was a good day. Too crowded for what I thought a Friday was going to be, but well worth it.
Let's Get Weird.
One question I have about Halloweekends:
Why no haunted train? I think of this every year and it baffles me CP avoids such a great attraction, even if they haunt the side with the skeleton villages only with a handful of actors... Throw a cheesy backstory and be a little creative with it. Any idea why they never do this? Dorney does, and I thought it was quite fun myself.

I remember one of the biggest factors that ended the short life of The Spooky Express was the safety of employees out in the woods near the tracks. Also, much of where scenery would go is now occupied by Millennium Force, Maverick, and Shoot the Rapids.
In the early years of HalloWeekends Boneville would receive some minor decoration, mostly in the form of colored Halloween lights. For whatever reason that stopped happening a few seasons into the event.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
Scared people tend to run from whatever they're scared of. People trying to run while on a moving train would probably be a bad thing.
I have also wondered why no haunted train :( or even "Scary Oldies" like some of the other parks used to do.
I didn't think of the liability aspects of the train ride, but at the same time places do haunted hayrides and tractor pulled rides every year and I never hear of any mishaps from them.
Maybe one day we will get a haunted train ride, or even a haunted story telling ride. They could have actors along the way acting out story scenes or something like that. That way it would be less scary but still a Halloween themed train ride.
I suppose the demand for something like this isn't huge, but it would be cool!
My old home park has a great haunted train! It's been done for years and is a hit in our park. It has actors through out the whole ride, but nothing that would scare you too much. They also use props. Its a great family attraction!
Has anyone tried Boeckling's Banquet? I was thinking about giving it a try this Friday (or whenever I go next), but for $130 for two people I want to make sure it's at least sort of worth it.
Someone here did it last year, and confirmed that it was great food, but c'mon... $65/person? If you want to spend that kind of money on dinner, you could do a hell of a lot better than that (and enjoy more than 1 beer with your meal). Maybe not in Sandusky, but still...

If you're a big fan of Halloween/Halloweekends and looking for something different and fun to do I would say go for it!
Got the steak dinner last year and it was really delicious, I was impressed. Everything was very good and the "special" dessert was a cool way to end the meal.
Not sure if it will be the same this year, but last year you got a nice gift to take along with you and they also did not charge for extra drinks.
You get to see Eerie Estates in a new light and have a really fun Halloween themed dinner.
I honestly thought it would cost more than it did. I look into a lot of special dinners and events like that and they are usually over $100 a person, so when I saw the price on this and everything that was included I thouhgt it was a great price for a special dinner.
I think it all depends on what you're looking for and what you like. Being a HUGE Halloween fan this was something super cool to me, but if you're not really into it maybe you will want to spend your money elsewhere.

I could be reading this wrong, but they advertise that you get "a glass of wine or beer" with your meal.
