1 final re-theme idea for Disaster Transport.

How bout just cleaning the current theme up and, here is an idea, do a good job of maintaining the theme. Doesn't make a lick of sense to retheme the ride again just to let it go into a total state of neglect. I usually bring several people every year to the park who have never been before, and DT is a ride I always skip due to the years of dust and filth and the total lack of maintaining the theme.

Of course the best idea it to just tear it down. I dont know how DK can stand looking at that metal barn out of his bedroom window every morning.

I actually really like the Red Barron theme idea. I think it would help attract the younger kids so that they have a bigger ride to ride.

I thought I read somewhere that one of the reasons the building was put up in the first place was beacause of blowing sand from the beach. I also thought I heard that Wicked Twister had problems with blowing sand gumming up the LIM's and brakes? That is why I really dont see a boardwalk wooden coaster working there in that spot either. Plus I really dont think there is enough space. I would love to see a bright building with huge Peanuts charactes painted on the on the outside maybe in joyous poses or dancing. I also kind of like the dance club idea as well. Have a VIP kind of set up as the entrance with velvet curtains and maybe even a Bouncer. Have the waiting rooms set up to look like lounges with some cool furniture playing some ultra cool techno but just as backround music kind of like the Sirius/XM chill station. Have one the the que rooms set up to look like modern lounge like the newly remodeled Twist in Cleveland. Have some plasma TV's on the walls with some dark wood accents and neat accent lighting. Then the ride itself could be set up with some really loud thumping club music and maybe even have a computer set up where you can choose which songs you want to hear on the ride. The large rooms in the rides can have some fog machines and laser lights and some great loud speakers just blasting the music. I mean loud enough where you can hear it outside.

Just another thought. But thinking about it makes get kind of sad at the condition the ride is now. We all know that the ride is safe, but it kind of looks to me like the idea that Ford had keeping the Taurus around for so many years and barely making any changes to it while Honda and Toyota fully redesigned the Accord and Camnry at least 4 times in the entire lifespan of the Taurus. And then having Ford issue statements that they are dissapointed by the sales loss of the Taurus to the Import rivals. It makes no sense to have a product and just let it go to crap the the point that no one wants to even think about buying it because most people want fresh and new. I really hope that people from CP management read these forums and listen to what we actually say. In most cases we are kind of like the unoffical experts!

I like the title of this thread, as if we here at PointBuzz have gone through so many "good ideas" for re-theming DT, and this is just it; out final shot at hoping Dick Kinzel is reading this and says, "By God those forums are right...we do need to re-theme it. Bring in that poster, he's clearly thought this through".

Seriously, it's great you want to save this crapper of a ride...we all know it's horrid..., but there is zero-chance that its next "re-theme" will be anything but a trip to a junkyard.

You can put a Santa hat on a turd and call it Mr. Hankey, but at the end of the day it's still just a piece of ****.

Maybe they will just be tearing the whole thing down soon? Remember the rumor saying that a coaster will come down before 2010? I think we all know we getting something big in 2010 and it will have to replace something....

I wouldn't agree that we all know we're getting "something big" in 2010. If this economy continues tanking, or, more importantly, Cedar Fair has trouble with its loan repayments as some have suggested (not me), then it's possible that few or even none of the CF parks will see anything more than the occasional paint job or new trash cans next year.

Yeah, the CF stock is dipping into the $8 range...

Ford had keeping the Taurus around for so many years and barely making any changes to it while Honda and Toyota fully redesigned the Accord and Camry at least 4 times in the entire lifespan of the Taurus. Clearly you have not seen the new (6th generation, btw, so that would be 6 changes total in the lifespan of the Taurus) 2010 Taurus: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/02/11/officially-official-2010-ford-taurus-sho/

I think we would all agree that it is a lot different than the first Taurus: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-generation_Ford_Taurus

Oh and Ford did make an even bigger change, the Taurus is now a full-size car. The mid size Accord and Camry now compete with the Fusion, not the Taurus.

Actually you can polish a turd, Mythbusters proved that they could take dung and shine it up to a bright luster finish.

I actually consider the Taurus ancient. The first car came out in 1986. A bodystyle redesign in 92 was basically new sheetmetal and interior, but the basic car was the same and not touched for 10 years. The 1996 redesign became the oval themed all rounded design. It sold slower than Ford expected yet they waited until 2000 to do something about it. That redesign was basically new headlights, tailights, and interior. The same basic car underneath still stuck around. It was not until 2007 than that the original Taurus finally bit the dust. 23 years after the launch of the original Taurus. Even though body styles have changed few and far between the basic car has always been the same.

One worked there from 1929-1952: The Cyclone

Obviously there is enough space for a Disaster Transport sized coaster. Or a Boardwalk Bullet sized coaster

I'm getting a '99 Taurus this summer. :( I guess a car is better than no car.

Are you talking about DT or a Ford?? :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

That's ironic, I get to drive a 2000 taurus but hey the things got over 100,000 miles on it and it still runs. :)

So stoked for 2010 :]

That's pretty rare for a Ford.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

how did we go from DT to talking about cars? :-)

pointperson's avatar

Because we need to put DT on some wheels and ship it to Chevy as a joke.

Acctually I have no clue on why we compared a Rollercoaster to a car.

The turd thing is funny......lol

DT has a disco ball in it, it's in the back corner behind the trough in the second to last "room" you zoom through. You can see the disco dots reflecting from the corner.

HaHa imagine sending a DT bobsled car to a car dealer or the ford plant and seeing how they would react.:)
