Live Web Cams

Oh, where'd you post the code to it at? Regarding Tony's tweets, I don't actually remember seeing a tweet like that.

The midway cam was here:
https://pixelcaster.com/live/cedarpoint/https/cam3.html

As I recall it went down about the same time all the KI cams went offline.
Not sure why they are still down.

I may be in the minority here, but I'd love to see a webcam back near Frontier Town or Trail. I remember many moons ago they used to have one on the roof of one of the trail shops. The area is fun, yet peaceful to watch.

They had one on the back of the Engine House building, pointing towards the 'bridge' adjacent to the Snake River Falls pond. The nice thing about that one was that it was pointed at the midway right at the end of the Frontier Trail and you could stand there and wave to your friends from it. The bad thing about it was that it was pointed at the midway and would potentially raise uncomfortable privacy concerns.

I've been recording webcams since 2007 as copy/save/jpeg. I have 20 different webcam locations.

I am not following - what is the privacy issue?

Tony mentioned to our group at wco that the 3rd cam will be back, and they will have a fan poll on where to put it.

The camera was mounted low enough and close enough that you could walk by it and be recognizable to anyone who happened to be watching that camera.
If you were aware of it, you could call your friend elsewhere in the world and he could see you almost live on a Cedar Point webcam.
If you were unaware of it, you might not be pleased to learn that you could be watched almost live on a Cedar Point webcam.

I imagine that’s why it was removed. On the current cameras if you happen to walk by, you’re just a dot on the pavement.

^So, if let's say you called in sick to work that day, and your boss happened to be browsing the webcams and recognized you carrying one of those awful over-sized pink gorrillas and eating a funnell cake, it could spell trouble for your continued employment.

I guess I don't see how that is a problem.

I'm mostly in agreement that it's not really a concern. But if someone you knew had at some point been thinking of robbing you, and one day they saw that you're at the park with your family, in theory they'd know you likely wouldn't be home for a while. Still a pretty big stretch if you ask me.

Let's be honest, we are on web cams and surveillance cams everywhere we go anymore with amazing detail. I dont give it a 2nd thought.. And if a robber just happened to be lucky enough to see someone they were going to rob, randomly walk by the webcam at Cedar Point with 20,000 other people......they should go buy a lottery ticket.

While I agree that the robbery scenario seems far fetched, how often are we in the view of webcams that are easily accessible by the public?

What could CP be up to... the one webcam is pointed directly at put-in-bay... no coasters in sight... or are they bored and wanted a change of scenery??? Hmmmmm...

The webcam looking at the Front gate and the sun glare makes that first drop on gatekeeper look like its a real dooooozy LOL... nothing there...

The tall item in the center of the view is Perry's Monument, I've seen them do that 'view' many times.

You should have very little expectation of privacy when you are out in public. If you don't want people to see what you are doing, don't do it in public.

Just saw 2 cement trucks coming from the back to the front of the park.. I wish I knew how to copy in pictures...

^Definitely for the 500' mega coaster they're building in secret, and hiding from view of the webcams. Definitely.
