I thought I heard something about it on the news last night.

They aren't claiming it's the cure, but it sure sounds better than anything else brought forward to combat Covid so far. Hopefully it's as effective on humans as it was with the lab trials.

Ohio is getting a mass quantity of remdesivir to treat patients. Reports say it could shorten duration of the disease.

I'm hoping so, the one I posted about is already available via the companies website. The company who developed it is a spinoff company from the University of Michigan. It's expensive as expected, 1 case minimum for ordering at a cost of about $900.

Edit: it will also be available on Amazon soon, where you can purchase single bottles for $25. The company itself is only selling by the case.

^ I'm all for ANYTHING that can help out against this horrible virus, but that stuff you linked to is basically what amounts to hand sanitizer for your nostrils. It's "neat" I guess, but certainly not in the same stratosphere as something like Remdesivir.

I never said it was better than remdesivir, but if the UofM had anything to do with it, it certainly is a big deal.

I get that. I just wanted to make sure it was clear that it is not a therapeutic drug in any sense. It's quite literally a sanitizing agent for the inside of your nostrils, which, in my completely unprofessional opinion, is not really a big deal.

Did you miss where I stated they said it wasn't a cure? It's an antiseptic that has killed the virus in 99.99% of all trials on surfaces, which is safe for humans, with hopes it will do the same in the human body. Remdesivir isn't a sure thing either bud.

You might want to increase your reading comprehension a bit before you start getting all defensive. It doesn't do anything "IN" the human body (other than the nostrils.) It does not get ingested, or inhaled. It's something you swipe on the inside of your nostrils to HOPEFULLY PREVENT the virus from entering your body through your nostrils. You know, sort of similar to a mask (and yes I know masks are more to prevent YOU spreading something than you catching something.) There's a reason you will be able to buy it on Amazon for 25 dollars, bud.

So far... nothing about the parks in have been included in the 'summer activities'.

Oh boy, you sir, are putting words in my mouth. I clearly stated it isn't a cure, it's a possible preventive antiseptic with great lab results. Nothing more.

I'm not here to argue and/or challenge people. I just thought I'd share something positive. You just seem to want to bash the whole thing.

I'm done with this as well, and as I said in my original post, I'm all for ANYTHING that can help against this virus, so please don't accuse me of bashing anything. I also never said or claimed you called it a "cure." I just clarified what it was, and my thoughts on it, which I will state plainly, it's certainly not "better than anything else brought forward." So again, who's putting words in someones mouth? Have a good one my man.

In my opinion, it's nothing more than a quick hand sanitizer for your nostrils. Which, if you look up the ingredient, you will see. They even state in the release, it's to be used in conjunction with other preventative measures. Can it help in lieu of a mask or proper distancing? Maybe. Does it actually do anything other than potentially kill the virus if it touches the inside of your nostril (not the only, or even proven most likely entrance point?) No.

And once again, I NEVER stated that it was anything more than a possible prevention measure. I'm sorry, but, to me it's big news. Something positive.... ugh I'm done. I don't wish to argue man. I simply wish you all the best! Here's to the hopes of being on the midway this season. Cheers!

Sounds like an announcement regarding parks will occur later, but not today. Pretty much everything else is reopening by end of May. No spectators at sports or large gatherings allows yet though.

Also, many things kill the virus "in vitro," like bleach. And NOBODY would recommend drinking bleach... oh wait... nevermind.

Ultraviolet does too. Also a good thing nobody has suggested we look into how to get light into our........oh wait. :P

Of course, but bleach isn't approved by the FDA for use in nasal decongestants either....

Just took the long Cedar Fair survey administered by Integrated Insight. I thought I'd share a few things that stood out to me as indicators of what's keeping park operators up at night for those who didn't get the survey:

• Testing / Temps / Masks: Should all employees and/or guests be: Tested daily? Have temps taken? Wear masks? Sign health affidavit?
• Capacity: Limit number of guests? Require reservations? Don't limit number of guests, but only allow entry during a reserved time? Have longer park hours (ie: 8a-midnight), but you pick day or evening block to be in park?
• Queues / Attractions: Keep queues as they are, but enforce social distancing? Do virtual queues? Clean between each ride? Space riders out?
• Security / General Sanitation: Require clear bags like NFL so security isn't rifling through everyone's stuff? Have dedicated team constantly cleaning all railings, handles, common surfaces, etc.?
• Bathrooms: Enforce crowd control? Dedicated team members constantly cleaning?
• Food / Merch: Pre-order via app? Only sell pre-packaged foods/bev? Install clear protective shields where they aren’t already? Enforce social distancing in seating / lines? Contactless payment? Comfort level with food festivals / trucks? Eliminate self-serve elements (ie: Coca Cola Freestyle, condiment dispensers, bulk candy, froyo)
• Special Events (Holiday Events, Concerts, Food Festivals): Is it practical to try and do any of these, or does it introduce unnecessary risk?
• Waterparks: How do your feelings change if considering waterpark attendance vs. amusement park?
• Propensity to take Destination vs. Regional trips to amusement parks: LOTS of questions on comfort level with traveling to Florida / California parks vs. regional parks, and how opinions change on all the topics above. I would have liked to see some questions RE: hotels as my family always stays for a few days since we're a 5 hour drive from home
