You're comparing a ride that has been in operation for seasons already to a ride that is brand new this year. For the record, no they can't do test runs on a new ride that potentially has low speed spots with temps below 40, high winds, and rain. They made that mistake with Gatekeeper.

I acknowledged that every ride was different but you have no clue what the weather thresholds are for this ride. I'm not claiming that I know either but my point was that when people throw this 40 degree number around like it's gospel they should know that it's not necessarily the case.

Gatekeeper valleyed during test runs

And the world didn't end. People act like a valley is the absolute worst thing in the world but parks generally recover within a day. El Toro valleyed last week and it opened 2 hours later. Last year they pulled Iron Dragon out of a valley and opened it the same day they pulled it out. Rougarou valleyed one night and it opened in the morning.

I don't know whether or not their is a manufactures rule on temperature but if there was one it doesn't necessarily mean a park will follow that rule. I have seen first hand a park disregard a manufactures requirement in order to do what benefited the park.

I'm not sure about a set manufacturers requirement about temperature but when I worked there in 94 we were testing Gemini in late November and early December. They were actually thinking about running it during the Christmas in the park. It was snowing and in the late teens for temperatures. If any of you remember if you were there it was not open. It valley'd too many times.

I'm willing to bet Valravn will be affected a lot more by a strong headwind than a lot of other coasters, probably even more so than GateKeeper.

^^ I agree. Gatekeeper at least has the momentum of an 8 car traing working for it. Valravns trains will be the widest in the park. That's a lot of surface area to be affected by wind resistance, and with only three cars, the momentum won't be as great as GK.

I'm fully aware of what you acknowledged. However, im curious as to how you're gonna tell me what I know about the "weather thresholds". Last I checked, I'm informed as I'm up here everyday waiting for the clear to cycle from a higher up.

Once again, you're comparing rides that have been operating for seasons vs. a ride that was brand new at the time. And do you know what the cost was for Gatekeeper valleying in 2013?

Not sure why you got defensive, but I'm just simply trying to help everybody have a better understanding.

Adding my 2c, with how busy maintenance is this time of the year, a coaster (new or old for that matter) valleying is one of the last things they need to worry about. Sure the world didn't end when Gatekeeper valleyed, and other coasters opened up within X amount of time after, however the maintenance team has more important things to be concerned about at this point in time.

Thank you samosuband. It's easier for employees to understand what other employees are saying on here sometimes

This thread was started last year by thedevariouseffect. I haven't seen any posts by that person for a long time.

Did I miss something? After a few years, one misses the regulars when he/she disappears.

I am loving seeing lots of shrubs get queued up by the wood fence next to the road, maybe it's just the gardener in me that gets excited by such things.

I feel like I missed something with the blueberries... Are blueberries to PointBuzz as pancakes are to CoasterBuzz?

I think blueberries help him deal with the loss of STR.

If I recall 4 coasters valley-ed on 2013 opening day. Considering the weather was miserable that weekend.

As I considered myself one of the lucky few and was and still am thankful for the opportunity to be their on Media Day. A big thanks to Coasterbuzz, PointBuzz, and Cedar Point for invited club members.

Valravn is shaping up to be possibly the most beautiful coaster at Cedar Point.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
