Valravn Goes Vertical--Construction Starts

One tree is gone but the marina gate seems untouched at this point.

Demolition of the marina entrance is taking place as I type

The statue was sitting over by Pagoda Gift Shop yesterday when I went to process out.

When I took a walk around the construction area, I realized how small Dive coaster stations really are.

Poof, there goes the old time wooded charm of that park like lane.

I'm sure it was debated upon for awhile whether they wanted to modernize the entrance or not. Unfortunately, nothing can last forever. They obviously believe they need to keep their entrance points modern, efficient, and appealing for guests.

I'm sure all of the old trees are being relocated to Charmland.

I guess it is one of those things that you have seen countless times but it never really registers - I never realized how big the marina parking lot is.

They are currently moving support pieces into the Marina lot.

Not to sound like a Tree Hugger, but I hope after construction is done, they plant new trees.

I've been told that Cedar Point plants 1 tree for every tree that is removed somewhere in the park.

For some reason I just thought about this. Will the shady seating area that was between the dodgems and the celebration plaza bleachers be removed? That was one of the best places in the park to just sit, relax, and eat. It looks like it's not there in the renderings which will make me sort of sad.

Certainly Valravn will encroach part of the midway near Sky Ride, but it's hard to tell how much of that area will be removed.

According to the webcam, at least one tree has been cut down in this area.

I saw them pulling out a tree a while ago.

Thought I saw a squirrel gathering nuts.

It looks like they have all the track for the turn into the lift laid out and ready to install.
