I am not understanding why everyone is suddenly freaking out about OTSR's. Inversions do not mean OTSR's are necessary by any means.

Well I would tell you who they are but then that would be getting them in trouble, they have a very good view of the ride!

I doubt they would get in trouble. It would be the same as a guest reporting seeing the inversion. On the contrary, CP probably wants us to know it goes upside down (if it does)... the ride is no secret.

That said, it looks like an inversion because of the way the track curves at the very top... it seems to be more banking, or just a sharper change of direction, then an overbanked turn would have. The supports are inversion-like too.

It's surprising to me that Cedar Point would build a looper without getting the record for the most inversions. While I love when loopers mix in a combination of hills and turns instead of just loop after loop, I'm not seeing where all the additional inversions are going to be at. There still appear to be a lot of curves coming up.

Them OTSR look pointless.. Think about it. Do you ever have your shoulder touch the top of the restraint or is mostly preasure on your waist?

EDIT:

TTDragster105, with as wierd as these supports are its hard telling what is going to be what. *** Edited 8/23/2006 8:52:54 PM UTC by MIA-Mike***

I think I understand what he is saying. It must have went over your head. Either that or your being a smart ass.

I have ridden stormrunner and I loved it. The OTSR are very comfortable and there isnt any headbanging. there is a bigger restraint around your waist and the restraints over your shoulders are very thin compared to B&M OTSR. I'm hoping to see some inversions on P07 like on stormrunner.

No really, since when does Wicked Twister go upside down?

All that happened to me on Storm Runner was after multiple times riding it in a row, the tops of my shoulders were a little sore.

As for this coaster having inversions, to me that is a plus. However, even having that severely overbanked turn like Goliath has, would be pretty cool. But I definitely wouldn't mind a few inversions thrown into this to go along with all of the twists, turns, and bunny hills.

I just wish I could access the Fun Cam, because it's never coming up for me. Oh well, I'll just have to take everybody's word that it's an inversion. :(

Take care and God bless!

I was trying to avoid a WT inversion controversy (someone somewhere probably believes it is inverted), but thanks for your intelligent, well thought it, constructive post. Thanks MIA

I think the point of over the shoulder restraints is to prevent your body from thrusting forward when the train slows down at certain parts of the loop. The last time I rode Mind Bender at Six Flags Over Georgia, I remember the force pushing me forward a bit toward the bottom of the loop. I personally think it added to the thrill. At the same time, it maintains a pretty constant speed throughout the loop. Oval-shaped loops are more likely to cause whiplash.

Well yeah, it is inverted, but no inversions. I wasn't trying to be mean, just wondering why someone would think that. First time I have ever heard of someone thinking WT had inversions. Carry on.

Actually, a circular loop would (and used to be) the most dangerous. I think there was one coaster WAY back in the day called something like 'Loop the Lopp' that killed a few people just because the loop was so intense because it was not elliptical or parabolic.
