If a poll places it in the top 10, thats one thing... but putting it just one spot below Shivering Timbers?... Thats unacceptable...

You're absolutely correct. It should be above Shivering Timbers, probably at about #9 or so.

Reguardless of how accurate the poll is, I do think the banner looks really cool. I was suprised to drive around Perimiter Rd. tonight and see it. Mean Streak is not an awful coaster, at least not this year, so I'm all for the park trying to increase ridership.

I've always ranked MS in my top coasters. It's great for scaring the tar out of those who have never been on a woodie, like a buddy of mine from the UK I took on it last year...

I have only rode MS once this season and wasn't impressed. It seemed to be rough like last year and slow because of the trim. This ride is not in my top ten or even close at that.

How much re-tracking was done over the off-season. They would have to re-track the entire ride on the level of the Voyage to make me consider it great again like it was in the early 90's.

Top 10 in ohio maybe, then again the banner could be just a way to hold that turn together? :)

I admit it's an awesome looking ride, but the ride is boring and hurts with those trims on, it's actually better when it runs faster just to expensive to upkeep.
But then again it does keep chiropractors, and the asprin makers in business.

Charging people 5 bucks to swing a sledge hammer at the trains while claiming a new world record for worlds largest, tallest, and fastest bon fire while having the best ridership numbers since opening from those swinging the sledge hammer, priceless.

Where did Son of Beast rank on that poll? Number 3?

I had one of my best Mean Streak rides on Sunday. I rode front seat of the gold train and it was very smooth and fun.

I rode the gold train front seat on Monday, and the same seat on the green train, and I must say, the ride was awesome from there. I really like it before, but after those two rides I like it even more.

I rode the Mean Streak torwards the front of the grenn train and it was a lot smoother than usual. It made me kind of start to like that woodie. I never thought I'd be saying this but...Mean Streak is moving up onto my "favorites" list.

Son of Beast isn't that bad...

Okay, unless you were unlucky enough to ride it on Sunday...
If that's how we rate how good rides are though, then Superman: Ride of Steel sucks. What a terrible ride. Melt it down!

Where are the results of this poll anyway? I can't seem to find them.

The drop on Mean Streak sure is exciting until you nearly stop ;)

Son of Beast made Mean Streak feel like a steel coaster to me.... The bottom of those double helixes are killers. I've never really disliked Mean Streak, I'm not sure its top 10 worthy, but its nice publicity at least.

The only bad rides I have had this year are on the gold train. Green and Red are delivering very nice rides.

For them to put up a huge banner for the ride based on a poll with questionable merit is just absurd.

Why? It's called marketing and it is good publicity for the park. An answer to a poll is just a personal opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. The poll shows Mean Streak in the top ten on that particular poll. Those are the facts. Good for the park and good for the ride.

If you want a smoother ride on Mean Streak, sit in the front seat of a car. That way you are between the front and back axles and the ride is much better. The back seat puts you right over the wheels.

I agree with both of your statements Pete, 100%! The front seat of each car (even on steel coasters) is always the safest best for a smoother ride.

I wouldn't hold a lot of value in the opinion of a magazine that has a circulation of fewer than 5,000. PointBuzz reaches twice that many people every day.

Gemini's better than mean Streak. I know it's not a woodie, but I can't beleive it's in the top ten. Can anybody link me the results in order via PM? If ElToro, The Voyage, and Hades aren't on there, You know the world is going mad.

I mean hey, I think the average park attendee would see that sign and not even question it. It seems like its there to draw attention, so in that sense, it's a good idea.

Honestly though... how many people in the general public have even ridden close to 10 wooden coasters. It would stand to reason that coasters from the more heavily attended parks would top a poll like this.

That being said Cedar Point did the intelligent thing by taking advantage of this marketing opportunity. Any company large or small will do this kind of self promotion if they are recoginzed with some type of award or honor. A company would be foolish not to take advantage of something like that.

I do the same with my business. :)

^You're right. You see car ads that feature this kind of stuff all the time. It's easy advertising and it works well.

CP might be just as shocked as we are.
