The park is never going to tell you when a ride will be open. Guests would look at them as going against their word if they said it would be open, and then was closed due to weather or maintenance.

EDIT: Notice, I said the "park." Ride Ops will tell you whatever they feel like.

We didn't ask if it was going to be open.
For that reason.

He said he asked them,
Do you know what's wrong with it?
Has it happened before?

They could have told us that the motor blew out or something. That way we would have know it wasn't going to be open the next day. But if it was a "monthly maintence" we could have had a better chance.

Cedar Point is a seasonal park. It doesn't have planned monthly maintenance that closes rides for days on end.

Anyone there today see any signs that it may be working tomorrow? I know that Race said it was testing...

Twisted Wicker

It opened tonight.

I was sitting there, and I saw a train go through the final U-turn, then there was a mad rush of people over the train tracks towards the entrance. There were lots of cops at the entrance. The people swarmed the entrance from all directions and it quickly grew into a line that extended beyond the bridge into Frontiertown.

During Hot Summer Lights, I was approached by management to "go spread the word that Millennium Force was open." My colleagues had to do the same. People left the show and ran towards the ride. Last I heard they were keeping it open until 11 tonight.

I just got back from Cedar Point. I live in Columbus, Ohio which is about a 2 hour 15 minute drive. I got my last ride on Dragster around 9:45 then we headed out from the Soak City parking lot, went around to Millennium Force, look into the station expecting it to be empty, but then we see a FULL TRAIN OF PEOPLE, but I was with my dad and his friend and they had to get up early tomorrow so they wouldn't go back in which was a real bummer. The motor was there this morning though because I saw 5-7 guys working on it all through the day. The trip definitely wasn't the same without MF, and this was my first trip to the park ever since MF has been built without riding it. *** Edited 7/10/2006 5:17:19 AM UTC by ttdboy111***

We were there and rushed all the way from Frontier Town and by the time we got there the line was back to the bridge that goes under it. We waited for a bit and it ran but it was the same people in yellow shirts getting on the the exit station. Then half the group left and walked away then called us when we got to the station. I guess a lady was there saying over the loud speaker: "I don't know why you're all standing here. It's still not open." So we just left. I would have liked to ride though.

for those of you who did go on how was it running? Slow, Fast what? Also, was the line moving fast?

By the way I don't really listen to the ride ops when they say that kind of stuff like if it will be closed or open, because I was once getting in line for Top Thrill Dragster and they said it was closed due to a breakdown. I asked one ride op if they think they will have it fixed by that night and will be open that night he said no. So just wondering what another ride op would say I asked another op the same question. He said yes, he think it will reopen, and surly enough a half hour remianing until the pak closed it opened.

The ride ops in front of the line (the queues when your entering) I think (I'm not sure just think) know as much as we do when there is a ride breakdown for a hour or two.

Well, I've been watching the FunCoast cam, and needless to say I am elated this coaster is back open. I mean, a trip to Cedar Point wouldn't be the same without it.

As far as the "What's going on with all the Millennium Force breakdowns", ever heard of a bad year? Or bad day? Every single person on this planet has a bad day, and the same goes for roller coasters. Millennium Force has been very reliable, and (as long as it's open when I go) it was due for a breakdown sooner or later.

Often times, yes this is the case. The best cure is to accept their answer, go ride/eat some, and then come back around later to check. Sometimes things take quicker/longer to fix than they though.
