OMG I forgot about Tomb Raider. If you don't know what to expect - it is a totally unexectable ride! :)

We're going to PKI in two weeks. I wasn't sure if CF would already be making a change - from the sounds of the threads - looks like they are trying to get input on what to change or improve.

The one thing I have learned over the years - is no matter what park I go to, nothing really compares to CP. Especially the queue lines - I guess this is an entirely different thread - but my biggest pet peeve in a park is the gang rush of people up to the front (six flags parks are great for this)

I just got back from KI. Yes, all the signage, ads, announcements and such announce the place as "Paramount's Kings Island," but since Cedar Fair now owns the place, some things are different.
At the Beast, there are now four employees checking bars, compared to just two. There's a "greeter" in place to check height early on in the queue.
Also expect this to happen on other coasters. For one I can't wait to have a greeter at Racer - having to check height in the station delays things and kills the concept of the ride (see Gemini).
Seems that the budget that was holding up the place from an efficient operation is now history, things are improving, maybe slowly, to "Cedar Fair standards."
I also took a survey upon entering the park, it was to know vitals (age, admission type, number of visits, advertising, other parks visited, etc.) from some guests.

Hay good to see you had a great time DrunkinMonkey, at Kings Island. Yes unless it 25,000+ people, the wait times aren't long at all. I've worked there for two years now, and yes when we heard that the big rigges were coming some departments went into panic mode. I'm glad to hear about the changed you mentioned CoastersNSich. Sounds like a sign that the park is definitely heading in the right direction.

I'm so glad that C.F.has taken over. I think the only thing in that park thats worth the trip is the Beast. That park couldn't even come close to C.P.Whenever i hear people saying that they're going there i tell them don't waste your time.The park is ok for a more kid oriented type of trip but other than that BLAH!!!

I sure hope C.F. changes my impression of that park and remember it's only my opinion so please don't tear me up on this

I actually thought KI was a nice park to visit. I don't think many of their rides had much of a re-ride factor to them, but a once a year visit would be nice in my books.

One thing I did notice is that PKI's merchandise seemed to be over priced, so lowering the prices would be great.

Drummerboy is a very closed-minded fanboy, it sounds like. Nevermind that not *everyone* only thinks a ride is worth riding if it's eleventyone feet tall.

This year i'm not able to go to KI, but I went to PCW and i always wondered if the Italian Job rides at the parks are different or the same??? I really want to know!! =)

I took some advice about how to "attack" the park and it works really well. I start at the back of the park where the Beast and Tomb Raider:The Ride are located. Everyone heads straight for aciton zone first, where Face/Off, Drop Zone, and Top Gun are located.

Hmm, why don't I see any mention of the Vortex in this thread? Did this ride suddenly de-materialize or did I miss some sort of memo about it?

My single scariest incident occurred on Vortex. This happened in 1999.

I rode in the mid-back, left hand side of the train. (can't remember which color). Mid-way up the lift my OTSR unlocked. No fail-safes kicked in and the ride continued. I rode the entire ride with very minimal restraint. To make matters worse, trim brakes were out in force, slowing the inversions down and making it more difficult to hold on. I did, and I imagine I was safe than it felt, but damned if it didn't seem like I was holding on for dear life. Darn near pissed my pants. (And this is an ex-skydiver we're talking about!)

When I got off the ride, I tried to tell the ride ops what happened and they IGNORED ME. They shooed me off the platform despite my protests. I watched the train pull out and prayed the next passenger wouldn't have the same difficulty. No bodies flew out, so I went on my way. I probably should have did more than I did, but I was very shook up and angry.

Since then, I've ridden it 8 or 10 times, and I've never had another problem. Guess they fixed it.

I still like it, though it's a bit rough in spots.
