Yes, with all the pipes coming out of it, it looks like a medusa head.

That is a myth JWAddington.

It's actually better to start out right away and drive slowly on a cold start.

You're also not wasting fuel letting your car warm up!

Sorry, when I saw them it was before the season of it's first year. I had gone up to get my season pass and they were letting people in what I can only assume is a maintenance entrance by the lawn equipment display. I was only with my friend and wasn't exactly sure what I was looking at. If I think of it I'll post it tonight.

TTD- you wouldn't know. I would... trust me ;)

Rollbacks first thing in the morning are ONLY when the trains/medusa are cold! As full onset of summer gets closer, the warmer overnight weather aids in getting the trains over the top the first time in the morning.

ONCE the trains warm up, and everything is fluid, the computer will start adjusting power for the time it takes to make it over the top.

Cold does have a factor, yes, but that is not the reason for rollbacks each morning in testing. The computer is programmed to launch trains at a certain speed every morning, which is not fast enough to get the train over. Every launch the computer adds more speed until it finds the right amount of speed to send the train over. Even on the hottest morning, it still takes at least two launches to get a train over.

cedarpointr0x said:Until it has a baseline every morning, the ride launches at the last set power until it clears. Once it clears, it starts making new calculations. Thats why rollbacks occur more in the afternoon- once the trains have warmed up, the computer will take a very small amount of power out in a goal of going over the tophat the SLOWEST without rolling back. Once it takes out a touch too much of power, there is a rollback, and this whole process starts all over.

By saying the trains are cold, I also mean the medusa is cold as well. Everything takes time to warm up. *** Edited 5/1/2006 12:57:16 AM UTC by cedarpointr0x***

Rollbacks happen randomly all day. You can't say they happen more randomly in the afternoon. Every three launches the computer averages the speed of the launch with the time over tower. It finds the best speed and uses that for the next three trains. So if trains are launching fast, the computer will slow it down. Say after the computer adusts there is a slower train because there are more empty seats. This is the best time for a rollback. All I'm saying with all of this is rollbacks are completly random, they can happen morning, afternoon, and evening.

So rollbacks are common...then why do they shut the ride down any time there is a rollback?

They don't.

I just thought when i was there last time (2 years ago) they were shutting it down when it rolled back.

There is sometimes a short delay (5 minutes or so) while the system resets, but its not shut down.

They might have, but they weren't shutting it down because it rolled back. Could have been shut down for a variety of reasons, or not. After all, TTD doesn't need a reason to be shut down. ;)

Arguing with a coaster enthusiast is like wrestling with a pig in mud. After a while, you realize the pig enjoys it.

Is it stuck or is that a storage location for it? I thought they have one on transfers, one in station, one on lift.

Lift one is a storage location for Iron Dragon. If it stops on Lift two, we have major problems!
