Does CP usually test on Saturdays? I've yet to catch a ride running, and I have some free time, so I didnt know if I would be wasting my time or not. Actually its fun to just be watching the rides!
You guys have some great pics of the rides testing! I finally got to see the WT going! I've been to CP three times and I have never gotten to ride it. It's always down. :-( We're going on May 30th, so hopefully I'll get my first WT ride!
They've been known to test on Saturdays (and even Sundays) before; there's no reason they wouldn't now...

Last year they blew the transformers behind the ride and needed to get portable ones on a trailer because the new ones wouldn’t arrive till March. Or at least that was what I was told.
Ahh, that's what those were. I knew they had blown them, but I thought they replaced them already, and that those were the old ones waiting to be disposed of. It all makes sense now... :)

"due to the trains being cold." That makes no sense. I would think they would be hot because the whole "moving parts generate heat" nonsense...

TTD- you wouldn't know. I would... trust me ;)
Rollbacks first thing in the morning are ONLY when the trains/medusa are cold! As full onset of summer gets closer, the warmer overnight weather aids in getting the trains over the top the first time in the morning.
ONCE the trains warm up, and everything is fluid, the computer will start adjusting power for the time it takes to make it over the top.
Until it has a baseline every morning, the ride launches at the last set power until it clears. Once it clears, it starts making new calculations. Thats why rollbacks occur more in the afternoon- once the trains have warmed up, the computer will take a very small amount of power out in a goal of going over the tophat the SLOWEST without rolling back. Once it takes out a touch too much of power, there is a rollback, and this whole process starts all over.
By saying the trains are cold, I also mean the medusa is cold as well. Everything takes time to warm up. *** Edited 5/1/2006 12:57:16 AM UTC by cedarpointr0x***
