News: Cedar Point blog shows footers at WWL site

For a 500 foot coaster there doesn't have to be a standard lift or launch. It would easy to have a vertical lift elevator style. Vekoma already has the thrill lift:

I think there are lot more options besides flyer, floorless, dive machine.

As cool of an idea as it is, that system is more for smaller heights.

Besides, its hard to build a 500 foot dive machine.

That element is actually on the SLC. So Thunderhawk at GL has one.

Nonono. Thunderhawk has a complete corkscrew in the middle, making it looks almost like a heart. This would be a complete inline twist and it would be completely linear. Looking at it from the front or back, it would just look like a straight line.

You would enter going this way: ---->
and exit going this way: ----->

Half loop, complete inline twist, exit with a half loop going the same direction.

Why would a Dive Machine be harder to build than another coaster. Building a 500' anything is hard.

He is saying the direction of travel would be the same. It would not turn you around and send you back like a cobra roll would do.

To much weight can lead to many probs. I would never trust that if my life was on the line. Not that it wouldn't be a cool ride but 500 ft?? I see MAYBE 200 ft but 500 ft would be to much stress on the lift it self.

I saw an animation of that lift hill at Eastcoaster. After you get vertical, you hang there for a few seconds. It looks pretty cool.

The verticle lift is VERY cool, but not really proven imo. I can't believe CP would build it, because problems would be difficult to solve for if people were in the train (unless they brought it back down).

I think capacity and reliability will be the drivers of Maverick.

Now that Intamin has designed the cable lift to be activated away from the station (SFGA new woodie), that is my best quess for Maverick.

There are no "minor" malfunctions at 500 feet in the air. The amount of stress that would be on that lift, from just looking at it, I would be VERY uncomfortable riding it, and I consider myself as "die-hard" of a coaster rider as anyone else here. I just don't see a safe implementation of that ride. Having people stranded on it? Having ONE part work improperly in the rotation of that platform? Yikes!

It looks like a thrilling concept and I've heard good things about the one that has been built (Taiwan?), but I cannot see that design going several hundreds of feet up. It's just too... too impractical of a way to move a train up. The capacity would suffer and I'm sure we'd run into a problem similar to TTD where you're trying to put moving parts under a lot of almost constant stress.

That Inversion would look still look diffrent because you forgot the effects of Heartlining...

My mind keeps swinging towards a 4D coaster becoming more and more of a possibility...

TTD got it. That looks more detailed than my picture, but essentially the same, correct design.

So, if this turns out to be the rumored 500ft. coaster, how many people will go on and on about how it only beats the current record by a mere 44ft.? I really hope that it turns out to be another 4th Dimension coaster, providing the bugs have been worked out and all.

Why doesnt somebody just drive down there and look and take pictures to see if theres anything else going on.

My guess is that the new roller coaster ( if there is one) is going to start by WWL station. Lift hill starts going up poiting by MF lift. Drop and does a bunch of crap where WWL used to be.
