screen blows down

I know that rumors are against the rules of Pointbuzz but I have to ask. Can anyone confirm what I read on another site that the laser light show screen got blown down a couple of days ago? I'm suprised with all the storms in the past, a wind could do it in winter.

I wonder if it will be erected again?

I wonder if they try and catch it and put it back up if there aren't any major problems with it? (joking) But I do really wonder how much one of those screens costs.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

So it's happened before? I'm assuming it's just the screen itself and not the structure, right?

Yes it is true. I heard the rumor the other day and I talked with a manager on aim and he confirmed it. It blew down part was by Iron Dragon and part by Power Tower. He said there was like Hurricane winds out there. And yes it was just the screen.

Does any one know if the screen is perforated? It probably would not make a difference after high wind speeds though. If it has happen before why don't they just take it down for the winter? Or is it not that expensive to replace and or repair. (just a couple of questions :))

In Tiffin a few nights ago, we hit winds of 60-70mph. No doubt that Sandusky had faster. That would be a sight to behold though, the screen taking a tumble.

Toledo was hitting 60 MPH gusts that day too, so it wouldn't suprise me if that was enough to take the giant screen for a ride.

I think Dorney Park has one that lowers when they are not using it. CP's does not do that. That would be a nice thing for CP to have since that thing sort of ruins the sightlines on that midway.

Matt-

Hershey's got a retractable screen, too.

I've never understood why they don't take the screen down during the off season. I would think it would keep it in better (read: not yellow) condition for the season.

I wish they would come to their senses and take it down permanently!
