If nothing else, it's a big draw for families. Not only do they enjoy the show, but it also helps the company by keeping them in the park later than they might otherwise. And for everyone else, it's that many fewer people in line!

Tear the whole thing down!~
That way you will be able to see our beautiful station again! :):):)
From everyone on the CP&LE, RIP Mayor Scott...~
The "screen" is a cloth/plastic like material and is in fact perforated, with millions of tiny holes in it. It is held on by a continous "bungee" cord wrapped all the way around the exterior of the "screen". About 7 or 8 ?? years ago the first screen "blew" down and a new one was installed, then. The problem is UV rays rot everything.

Here is a picture from the Funcoast cam, and it appears that the screen is blown down.

It won't be the same without the Giant Wheel behind it...

cp&le rr guy has the right idea. However, DBCP has a point. I've said this many times in other threads, and I'll post it here too: http://www.thepointol.com/cponle/postcards/gwheel.jpg"]http://http://www.thepointol.com/cponle/postcards/gwheel.jpg
Just beautiful! Isn't it? ;)

I didn't realize how cool the station looks until I looked at the postcard image Kyle posted. Now I have to 100% agree with you (not that I didn't before, it is an ugly screen.) Because the screen is there, I had no idea there was a clock tower on the station until I saw the postcard!

Here is the station currently if you look up underneath the ''Big Ugly White Thing...''. But again, you have to stand right under the screen to see this view. :(

That view with Giant Wheel in it is awesome, but that banked curve that belongs to Millennium Force did a nice job replacing it.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I have a simple soultion that I think would make everybody happy. Why not move the screen. I think it could fit in were ocean motion is, but they would have to move ocean motion to another part of the park. The WT midway is wide and could hold a lot people that would watch the show. And just think, no other rides would have to close when the show is running, well besides the Space Spiral.

Imagine your favorite tv show. You've been through it all. The ups, the downs, the crazy coincidences and then bang! They tell you what it's all about. Would you be happy? Does it make sense? How come it all ended in a church? - Joker
And where would you put the control booth? Also, how would you put it where OM is? Noone could view it, especially not from the WT midway. The only way to do that would be to put it right in front of the Coral Dining Room, but then you still end up with a big ugly structure stuck in a place it doesn't quite fit.
If they are going to keep it, the Million Dollar Midway is the only place that can fit both the crowd and have enough room back to fit the control booth.
Goodbye MrScott
John
Ocean Motion belongs where it is at.
I do like the idea of placing it on the Wicked Twister Midway though.. Just not sure where it could go...
A show on the beach; that'd be a lot of fun. :-\

I know where it could go...in one of the big trash removal bins. I think everyone would be happy if it went there.

I for one, think that the show is a positive for everyone:
-Those that enjoy the show (ie: familes) are able to enjoy the show.
-Those that don't are able to do as they please, for example riding rides, and it helps to reduce the number of people in line.
-It's good for the company because it helps to keep people in the park that would have otherwise gone home. Anyone who saw the 2006 operating hours and complained about the 10 pm closings during the week, shouldn't be complaining at all about the laser show.

Just build a new screen 10 times the size of the existing one. It can be constructed out in the main parking lot and everyone can watch from their cars, then leave immediately afterwards!

What kinda worries me, more than anything, is the fact that word has it that their contract with Stone Mountain Productions was up, and that they won't be returning. Instead we'll be seeing a show with fewer, if any, lasers, more fireworks, and more of the beagle...
