screen blows down

I think so to Vince982, I don't have a problem with the screen, but for people that do that would be a good solution if they indeed decide to buy another screen

That was the good days when it was still fun to work there. Till this day that's the one memory that I miss probably the most. Tossing people in the air "stand up"..hehe Now that's a trip down memory lane.

They should bring in those people who travel the country putting on the Pink Floyd Laser Spectacular. I wouldn't mind ending my day at CP with a sweet Pink Floyd laser light show. :)

Awsome photos. I remember when the Big Wheel was back buy the trains. It was a wonderful backdrop. Times change I guess.

The problem they would have with a retractable screen is the fact that speakers are mounted on the frame, so even if the screen "folded up and down" the legs would still be there to house the speakers.

And, we'd still have the ugly projection structure thingy - also not very attractive to look at.

Disneyland puts on a pretty cool laser show just using smoke. I don't know where CP would put something like that but it would eliminate a huge screen that is an eyesore 23 hours a day.

Edit: The lasers are actually projected onto a wall of water that is sprayed upwards out of a lagoon. It would be pretty hard for CP to set this up for people to see it since most of the land by the water at CP is flat

The only problem is that Disney World is over priced and thats how they get there extra money for all those shows.

Even though the structure were still there, a retractable screen would still allow the view through it. The structure that projects the show is kind of cool looking IMO. I remember on my first trip my initial thought when I saw it was that it was some sort of kids play structure.

You know, the mention of Fantasmic reminded me of Sea World of Ohio's laser show they had. They used a big wall of water and fog to display their laser show on. Now the only thing is where would there be enough area on the midway for a large crowd and an area of water that would be big enough to have a section for a water wall?

A far-fetched (yet ideal) idea for the "screen"...

They could attach the screen to a lift hill. Not sure which ride would be best suited for this, but it would mean there would be no extra screen clogging up the views around the park. Also, I'm not sure about which rides would have a big enough hill, or which hills would provide the best visibility for such a thing.

Personally, I don't watch the laser show but I love the fact that it draws crowds away from many of the rides at the back of the park.

Still, is the stadium with the water events still there doing a high dive show? Why not put a screen in there and do a show from there...it gives people a great view and the sound would be better, plus you're not tying up the midway.

That stadium is way to small to hold the number of people that see the show. I like the idea about putting the screen on a lift hill. That's what they did at Dorney Park I believe.

Speaking of a screen on a lift hill. I'm still surprised they never put a giant spider up on one of the lifthills for Halloweekends. Like on Magnum or in the middle of the supports for the first banked turn on MF.

I don't think they'll get rid of that screen. A lot of families still come at the end of the night to watch it. Usually I like to ride Millennium Force one last time before the night is over but if there is anything left of the show I like to watch it. There is a lot of money that goes into the laser show. So I'd be upset if they ever did that.

I think that the show has too much potential, if it already isn't, for the park to make money. There are many families that would have otherwise gone home earlier if it weren't for the show. This keeps them in the park and spending money on souvineers, food, and what not...

Six Flags does that with Magic Mountain. Maybe more parks. It would look neat if Cedar Point did that with MF.

I wonder if the “new” show their going with this season is a indication as to its longevity. Why have the giant ugly screen for just pictures and some video? It seems the show was geared towards a younger crowd and families. And it sounds like it will be even more kid oriented this season. So why not move the show to the family park down the road? I haven’t been in the area of the park for the show in a long while, so I was wondering what kind of age group is still awake to watch the show? I would think that most kids might be to tired to watch? I don’t have kids so I have no clue really.
