Worst guest experiences '03

Since the other thread was too long, I'm making a new one.

For the 2003 crew, what has been some of your worst guest experiences?

When a guest said the following to me, and I quote:

"Say hi to your mom for me."

This was a 35 year old man with what looked like his 8 year old daughter.

I have too many...;) One of the worst was when this guest told me I ruined his vacation and then said he would call the Plain Dealer on us to expose how horrible and rotten we were.

Finally a shoeless Raptor rider! :)

Oh no...See, I have you ALL beat. I was a server this season and I think the worst guest experience was when a woman sat down, ordered a garlic chicken, then demanded to see a manager because she didn't know there was GARLIC ON THE FREAKING CHICKEN.... my manager had to comp about half of their meal, apologize, and then she still left a lovely $.01 tip on her credit card... Oh, and if she didn't know, her trailer park called...and their trash is missing....
My worst guest experience was when the I took a quarter from a guest on PT, and they told me they were going to sue me. I laughed in their face, and told them how to get to park op to complain about me. That was a fun day.

Then I also had the damn kid who kicked his shoe off on the drop side of PT, and it hit me on the shoulder/neck. I went off on the kid.

Hmmm... where do I start???

First, there was a day at Monster where someone told me that if I "stapled" him, he was going to beat my ass (unless you're a little too big, you CAN NOT get stapled on that ride). Then, there was a day at Snake River Falls where someone came up to me and was dead serious about the following question:

"Is your water wet?"

I had to turn to the side and hold in my laughter until we sent the boat, and then I lost it- I was almost rolling on the platform I was laughing so hard.

Then, I had a lady at Dragon on the busiest Saturday in the Freakin' world tell me that she was going to stuff her kids' shoes to get them to meet the height requirement. I told her that that was not allowed and that I would have to confiscate any material I found in the shoes.

She had an absolute fit- she was swearing, yelling, and doing what the the normal irate parent does- whine that their child was tall enough to go on Wildcat. Hmmm... 48" vs. 46", and the kid doesn't even CLOSELY meet 46".... you do the math. I did usually what I always do....let it go in one ear and right out the other. La la la la la. So when she finally stopped, I repeated my "spiel" on confiscating, and was about to go off when she finally decided that enough was enough and said she was going to complain about me to Park Ops.

I just about handed my ID to her and said "You can HAVE this" when all of a sudden it was time to rotate. :-)

I've had some wonderful (I use that term both real and sarcastic) experiences my first season, but all in all, I liked it. I thought people were stupid when they came to Taco Bell and started ordering Wendy's Food, but I now know that Cedar Point Guests totally redefined my sense of intelligence.

I went off on the kid.

I might have just kept the shoe. "Your shoe? Fell off? No, I didn't see it."

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

I guess I'm just kinda curious as to why you'd want to focus on the negative's of a season instead of the positives.

If the guests are that much of a problem for ya, then don't work there next season.

I didn't have any negative guest experiences this season so I guess I don't understrand it..

The name of the thread is Worst guest experiences '03. We have the good and the bad, the bad are just hilarious though.

I think mine would have to be the stupid people who got pissed at me for not stacking the times on their special access books. I told the one guy to think about it if he didn't have the special access book would it be phsyically possible to wait in line for two rides at the same time and he got pissed ripped up his book and threw it away.
whoops... if a person was nice, i'd just give them a min or 2 wait. working long hours in rides was stressful enough, avoiding conflict by giving the guest what they want was so much easier. Don't get me wrong tho, if the person was an ass I took great pride in smiling and saying no. but i bent the rules more than not. owell.

i guess last year in rides was just so much more stressful than serving this year.

My worst experience, brace yourselves, had to have been when i gave the table their check and they asked me to split the bill after i had already thrown out my sheet telling me who had what. that's bad, eh. (better believe i split all checks since, without them even asking me.)

I did get stiffed 1 time on a tip. didnt care for that too much.

i guess being a servant, err server, its my job to kiss ass. And who gives anyone lip when theyre getting their ass kissed.

Eh, splitting checks aren't bad. It's when the little jerks want split checks on a party of 9 and then pay in quarters and crumpled up ones....thank god for autogratuity!
Worst guest experience I had was at Raptor entrance when a father completely cussed me out because his daughter wasn't tall enough to ride, but they had paid full price, he then walked away and about 5 minutes later returned with his daughter in tears saying "look what you did to my little girl, you ruined her day." I told him there are plenty of other rides in the park she can ride, she was obviously 52", I told him only 3 rides in the park she will not be able to ride, he then swore some more at me and stormed off.
Hey CP Almuni! You guys all do a great job yo! I was on Cat back in '00, and the thing on cat is that you better make sure all your loose articals are stowed. Well, I told this guy that he neeeeeeeeded to take of his hat ( poor guy was thinning in the hair, and I felt bad....)not bad enough to ask him though. Long story short, he told me to F*in do my job, he got pissed when I dispatched him and he was still wearing his hat-----he was scrrrrreeeeeaming up the hill, the hat flew off, time for rotation and I was at unload---I looked over at his hat in the low zone--smiled at him, and said, you can come on back after close and ill be happy to get that for ya now ;-) Never came back, and never said a thing to me at unload. You guys all do a great job up there, now, at Knotts, differant story! "Is this Disneyland Mommy"! Cest La Vie---take care--all of you!

guys.. my summer rocked but one day on snake was the worse.. i was standing at load and the guests we loading the boat and this guy fell and got his leg wedged in between the boat and the platform he broke his leg or something like that... an hr after that i was up at chute and god help me right when the boat hit the conveyer these 2 scared ****less kids decided to try to climb into another seat i mean climb over the seats to get to their mother.. and THEY WERE ABOUT TO DROP! omg i think that was the worst day i ever had i went home so upset... but the rest was good lol

jodi (train girl) :)

Just a quick comment on people who beef about under-height kids wanting to ride. In the carnival, I used to always tell them, "Sure, they can ride. Let me go get the shovel, mop, and bag you're gonna need to scrape them off the ground and pack their remains in when they come flying out of the restraints that weren't designed for under-height people."

Rude, but hey, we had more leeway in the carnival biz...

Town Mark: "How long is this ride?"
Op: "About 55 feet give or take"

How many lines did he get kicked out of? I know he had to be removed from Dragster's line.

i don't know how many lines but obviously he thought he was somebody special. i realize that he's a big star, but at the time, i had no clue who he was...i figured, if he is AS big as HE thinks he is, then he would have had park escorts and wouldn't have waited in line. i think b/c of that experience with him, i will never like him
That's so lame. I'm glad people took care of it and made him wait in line like everyone else. You're not special just because you're a high school basketball superstar. Heck, you're not special if you're any superstar. Wait in line like everyone else, I say!

People would ask me if I got to skip ahead in line. Nope. I never did. I waited in line like everyone else. I just knew good days to go and I'd get FreeWay.
