Winter tours of the park

I could dress up warm and dish out $5-7 for a winter tour. Would be willing to spend more depending on what would be included.......Winter tour, interesting concept...they wouldn't have to offer them every day, perhaps take reservations for specified times. This requires more thought.

Don't get me wrong, I love the tropics in the winter, but this is an interesting thought.

What exactly would one expect to see on a winter tour? I would think just an empty park full of stripped down rides with cars and trains lining the midway. CP would have to put some work and effort into this as there would have to be some liability with equipment and construction going on.

Now I have often thought it would be nice to take a walk down a snowy frontier trail but not sure I would want to face the cold. My winter trips to Cedar Point are to Castaway Bay.

I was across Lake Erie today in Leamington at the dock and the snow blowing off the lake looked cold. With days coming up that have a daytime high of 5 degrees F I feel bad for those who have to be outside onPoint.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Aside from seeing things under snow, it's not nearly as cool as you'd think. The park is pretty ugly in the off season. Although I did get to drive my car on the midway a couple of times, and I admit that was kind of surreal. (When Millennium Force was being built, Perimeter Rd. was blocked, so to get back to marketing and the offices they routed you through the park.)

I got to walk up the lift hill on Batman Knight Flight at Six Flags in 2000 when it was being built my dad did the inspection on it also got to walk around the park alone.

I know that I would like to see the park in the winter. I had the chance to go to Geauga Lakes auction and go everywhere including the places no one gets to see! I am glad I had that chance before they torn the park apart! I will always remember that!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

I agree with Jeff. There isn't much to look at during the off season. It is actually pretty boring, except for the first hour, then ho hum. It's cold and nasty up there. I used to visit the off season when I worked there and spent most of my time inside of the Cedar Point and Lake Erie Railroad Engine House talking to Randy. Just too cold outside.

After my few experiences in the park during the winter months, the summer is just fine for me. No leaves to stop the cross breeze in winter. Probably some of the worst snow plowing ever. On those negative degree days it's a bit like Satan's empire froze over in the literal translation. I'd get my business done and get out of there. Though I admit Means Streak covered in snow is one of my favorite sights.

Not to mention with this recent "lovely" weather just getting to CP would in itself be an adventure :(

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?

Yea you know what screw this winter crap! I am so tired of this. In Michigan we have been getting snow every week. some weeks it was every day. So far i can only remember seeing the dead grass once just before Christmas. Since then nothing. Lets turn up the heat and get to the point!
IS IT MAY YET!

Every day I ask myself why I'm not applying for jobs in Florida.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Bring on Global Warming. (Wink Wink Wink) Ditto above at least a little warm up to melt some of this white stuff and make it easier to shovel as I am running out of room to put it.

Exactly why I am applying for positions in Florida. If anyone knows of anyone looking for a horse trainer/riding instructor around Ocala or so lmk! I would much prefer shoveling manure than snow.
I could live without Raptor as long as I had Fire and Ice! :)

Trust me living in Florida isn't all thats it cracked up to be. Lived there for a year. Glad to get back up north. The heat and humidty was brutal and traffic and crime were horrible. Great place to visit but not a great place to live in my opinion. Live in the Carolinas now. Love it here. Get the change of seasons but not to the extreme as Ohio and Michigan.

Brutal heat to me is far easier than dealing with brutal cold. As for traffic and crime, born and raised in NYC so can't be any worse than that!

Brutal cold is much easier Raptor, because when you are cold you can always add another layer of clothing. When its hot, there is only so much clothing you can take off, and even then it doesnt really help.

Also, coming in from the cold into a heated building it takes you max 5 minutes to warm up; if you come into a ACed building with a complete sweat it will take you 10 min to cool off, 10 minutes of shivering due to your sweat evaporating and then you're comfortable (but stinky.)

Lame. I'd take 30-40C air temps with dewpoints over 20C any day.

That's 86-104F with dews in the 70F+ range. Perfect temp is somewhere around 90-92F/70F

Bring on the heat and summer convection.

Now I'm going to sound 100% crazy but I also hate winter with a passion. Go figure why in the world I would want to see CP during these brutal months.

This winter seems to have been very cold and snowy thus far. I think I say this every year but it seems worse then ever this year. Maybe its just my age starting to grind me down but the cold actually seems to be hurting my bones this year. I to have explored moving to FL. Have some friends that just moved down to Merritt Island. Just hearing from them and their 60-70 degree stories makes me very sad. But I have also heard the above mentioned complaints about FL in the summer. I visited FL in April and yes it was very humid. I also remember this small bird landed on my shoulder when I was there. But to my shock it turned out to be some sort of massive insect ;) . I have some family who moved to Arizona years ago and they love it. Very hot but not stickey. I'm seriously thinking about doing some job searching out west. Perhaps float a resume or two around to see whats out there. It's just very hard to find a decent job with health and all that right now. I'm not going to let the one I have go right now. Just can't get the benefits I have right now. If we had that universal health care many dream about it might make things a little more easy to do. And of course I would be very far away from the place I want my ashes spread (CP of course).

Summer in Florida isn't that different from summer in Ohio. So the rest of the year if it comes down to warm all year or four to five months of the crap we're dealing with now, I'd take the warm. Moving to Florida is very high on my priority list.

And when it's this cold, that cold can kill you. When it's hot, you're mostly just uncomfortable, provided you're hydrating.
