Windseeker construction cam up!

It looks like the top of the tower is arriving before the bottom. Cedar Point's probably be arriving in the next week or two.
Only one coaster was moved from Geauga Lake, that being FireHawk. Diamondback the new b&m hyper is great and I really like the new Planet Snoopy.

I thought that at first too, but looking at the animation look like that paint scheme is at the top and bottom of the tower, so that is likely the lowest piece of the tower.

I guess your right, I knew diamondback was a new coaster, but I was thinking there was three new coasters total. I probably just got confused since they had to change all the names that were owned my paramount. I wonder if there ever going to reopen SOB, It is a great ride even without the loop, last I heard they were still considering new quotes from different engineering firms. Hopefully they come up with something soon!

King's Island is a great park. It is one of my favorites.

Let's Get Weird.

I know this is going to seem like a stupid question but here it goes? How long until we see more construction start to happen with WindSeeker? It's almost March and the only thing that has happened is the footer for WindSeeker? It makes me think the ride will be late opening this year. I want to see this ride go vertical!!

My guess would be that the parts will be arriving soon since they started to arrive at Kings Island February 21st. Once they arrive, we should be seeing the tower begin to rise. It will probably be a quick assembly.

There's no need to fret. This is a very simple erection (stop snickering). I was told the vertical construction should only take a week or less (weather pending) and it'll be in March sometime. Then it's all electical and site/area construction from there. There's still plenty of time.

Yea, I imagine once they get everything at the park it will go up pretty fast. I'm assuming its all electric, so no need to install compressors or tanks like they did with rids like Skyhawk. We probably will see the ride completed by the end of march, than they have April and half of May to test, and complete the queue loading platform and operators station. there's plenty of time! unless something goes wrong, we should defiantly see windseeker running on opening day!

One thing I've enjoyed so far is comparing the difference in the construction webcams of Kings Island and Cedar Point. I know KI is ahead of CP because of the opening date, but I'm curious to see if each park follows the same schedule of work. For example, KI looks like they will have most of the site poured before any vertical construction begins. It will be interesting to see if work progresses differently at CP.

^I wouldn't be surprised if the crew erecting Kings Island's Windseeker is the same that will be doing Cedar Points.

Looks like they are finally getting ready to pour some concrete. Yea! Let's all watch it dry. :)

How could that be when they are working on both simultaneously?

Im talking about the small crew that will be used to erect the structure of the ride, not all the ground work. If both rides have vertical construction going on at the same time, then we can say I am wrong. But nothing is happening yet.

Gotcha. I thought you were talking about the whole process.

Not the whole process. But Cedar Fair using the same general contractor for the whole job would also not surprise me. Cedar Point has always used Adena out of Mansfield for construction projects. While visiting KD to see I-305 construction, Adena was there as the contractor. So my guess would be that they are also doing work at KI.

Yeah....I haven't seen any Adena trucks on the KI webcam like we can see at CP, but that doesn't mean they aren't there and it would make a lot of sense for CF to use the same company. Not that they are known for using the same companies again and again. Cough....Intamin....cough..... :-)

They have framed the pad area for loading and unloading and it strikes me how far out onto what used to be the public beach this ride extends. Makes me wonder if they will also, in the future, use the beach behind giant wheel, WT, and others along that stretch heading toward the parking lot.

Not a bad idea if they do, but kinda a shame to see that historic beach being filled with concrete.

TTD 120mph's avatar

^^Well they both achieve good results. That's why they stick with them when the time calls for their services! However, the performance of one is affected by weather and time schedules where the performance of the other is affected by over engineered systems. Guess which is which. ;)

I was totally clueless on which was which.....so I got out my trusty old thesaurus.....it listed only one word as a synonym for "over engineered."

That word.........INTAMIN. :)

Okay, lets get this back on track, I'm going to make you guys group hug if you cant settle your differences on your own!

Anyone else notice none of the webcams are working today? both Windseeker cam's look almost static and the Dragster cam says its currently undergoing maintenance.

I know it snowed here a little bit (I'm about 2 1/2 hrs south of Sandusky in Columbus so I'm sure it snowed more there) but we didn't see this all winter did we? I thought the lenses had covers so unless the wind was blowing right at them the snow or sun wouldn't effect.

Maybe there finally "nudging" the dragster cam to show the Windseeker sight since now they should be starting vertical construction. that will be a cool angle to watch it go up!

I believe the winds were blowing in that direction last night so naturally the snow just stuck in there.
