Really? I don't at all. When the Mondial design was chosen over Funtime, wind was the sole reason. Funtime has larger versions of this ride overseas, but their loose/chain design cannot handle winds.
Promoter of fog.
Imagine the irony there! ;)
I agree with Kevin on this one, though. The key draw of this design seems to be its operation abilities during higher winds. It's in the name for crying out loud! :)

Hey, just because it's looking for the wind, doesn't mean it can handle it. ;)

I would think the design needs to allow for no crashing in the event of it coming to a complete stop while at the top of tower.....
It does though. If one car is extended as far as it can go forward, and one car is extended as far as it can go backward and there is clearance between them (presumably enough so people's legs aren't crushed) then the design allows for it.

I don't see how it is different than WaveSwinger in this case. If the ride is e-stopped, it doesn't suddenly stop. It safely slows down.

It looks like a strange line cover is going up now on the webcam.

Looks like what we thought were footers for lamp posts...are just posts for the queue shade covers
But those footers do have electrical conduit and wires running between them. So it might turn out that the posts are pulling double duty here. Very interesting to see what happens though.

Maybe they electrifying the covers to keep the seagulls from perching. :-)

^ That's a very good guess, and I'd probably go with that one. Though I would be interested to see how it looks if they do decide to put lights under the awning.

Those are some pretty heavy-duty footers just for queue cover poles.

Perhaps it's some new kind of queue banner that requires a good anchoring. I'm interested to see what these turn out to look like.

^^ You know Cedar Point, always doing BIG things!
and CPboy77, last time I looked at the Windseekercam2, they were doing work on the sign and it looked like they were putting a back cover on it. So since there was work going on over there, that is a possibility.
I'm not convinced those poles are for queue shades. If you look closely, notice that the cantilevered extension alternates in direction on every other pole. There's a pole missing front-and-center on the WindSeeker2Cam, and it will point toward the ride. As such, I'm not sure I see how shades would be attached to the poles.
Perhaps the queue shades are like the ones you typically find throughout the park (frame tent style), and will be assemble beneath the lights (though I don't see any footers for them). Or perhaps the stadium provides adequate shade, being nearby on the south side of the queue.

What's changed? Everything looks the same as it did yesterday, as far as the queue shade/light poles are concerned.
